Why is it terrible? If the average pay of these jobs are $25,000 (which is low considering the $30 hr cited) that's $27,500,000 kept in the economy for the small price of a $7,000,000 tax break. But you know, you are only telling half the story here. The $7 Mill is spread over 10 years. $700K a year. OMG Terrible I know. The real deal was that if Carrier left, well, so might the federal contracts. I dont know about you guys, but it looks like Trump won that deal. Oh, and Trump isnt even in office yet.
Doesn't change the fact that people opposing this are missing the real issue. It is not surprising as most liberals are emotional wrecks. The problem is our tax and regulatory system. It's not favorable for manufacturing, and other industries, at all. Though, you guys never address that. I have yet to see one single negative from this deal that you guys have posted. Well, you guys mentioned ransom. Well, it seems the glorious federal contact was also held ransom.
What precedent? Carrier is a major winner of federal contracts while they have been shipping jobs overseas. They held jobs hostage Trump held the contract hostage? What precedent was set?
It sets the stage for future companies to hold jobs hostage. Had Obama done this you'd be railing against it.
Oh so you know what I think now? The problem with Obama is he never even tried. He literally just gave certain industries money with no strings. Again, you have nothing to refute. Whats bad about it LaSalle? They played hardball and Trump played it back.
How did they win? Do you have a calculator? They would have saved $64 million by closing the plant. They are not closing the plant and the jobs will still be in the economy worth more than $40 million a year. All for the price of $700K per year for 10 year in tax breaks. lol. Further, other companies have been holding us hostage for decades. Shits got consequences now bro.
If what were after is growing the tax base then it makes much more since to reduce tax on companies who employ workers, then it does to try to tax the company to get the tax revenue. In the long run the tax base will increase from increases in workers tax payments than it would from the companies tax payments. That is not corporate welfare that is just smart business.
Don't even try to explain business to the tax and spend liberals. They think it's somehow better to lose all the jobs rather than save 1100 through very modest tax breaks. I'm pretty sure it won't be long before CNN and MSNBC are spinning it: Trump Outsources 1300 American Jobs."
