Texas doesn't tax alcohol, either that or it's built into the price. Texas doesn't have a state tax either. Texas has been doing something right for a very long time. It's most run by republicans but a lot of those republicans work with democrats. I've thought long and hard about moving back to DFW. No shortage of work, my biracial family wouldn't get unpleasant looks everytime we go somewhere in public, better schools (still not amazing, but better) better economy, better doctors.

So what's stopping you if you can find a job with at least equal pay as your present employment. When I hear about people moving to Colorado for the medicinal pot I wonder what kind of work the guy does to be able to afford to move.

Are you just now finding out that most of the pot in this country is smuggled in by organized criminal gangs? Legalize it and it wouldn't be profitable for the smugglers.

Medical marijuana contract will give LSU at least $3.4M

BATON ROUGE — The first medical marijuana production deal struck in Louisiana is expected to bring the state's flagship university at least $3.4 million over five years, under terms discussed Thursday.
In its bid offer, the contractor agreed to pay that amount or 10 percent of gross receipts, whichever is higher, to the LSU Ag Center for permission to grow medical marijuana. Las Vegas-based GB Sciences Inc. also has agreed to a $500,000 annual contribution for research.....

..... Louisiana lawmakers agreed to a framework for dispensing medical marijuana in 2015, but only allowed the agricultural centers at LSU and Southern University to grow the product. The law will eventually get medicinal-grade marijuana to people with cancer, a severe form of cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, epilepsy, muscular dystrophy and other diseases. Eligible patients are expected to have access to the drug next year, under the LSU plans.....
