LaSalle is probably a hard working dude with decent if confused values who just can't force himself to embrace the capitalist system that gives him his job that he hates but that feeds his family and pays for his pot.

That's the line the GOP has been feeding y'all for years and it's a bunch of horseshit. A good blend of capitalism and socialism is the way to go and for the record, that's kind of what we have here, but the scales are tilted way too much.

    My problem isn't capitalism.

They've been trying to retire it since Clinton was President and every time it comes down to it the military says hell no, gotta have it.
Numbers are indeed down but more so because our main threat and, thus, our mission have changed. A lighter more mobile force is more suited to fighting terrorism where you likely only have a very limited window of opportunity to get them. But you are correct that this is nothing new, technology has made the demand for manpower less significant than it used to be....not just for the military but also for corporations. I agree that a drone will never win a war, no more than a tank or an F-15 will, but it is a tool in the arsenal and has become a very big part of it.

dancing like a good lib. We are a weaker force than we used to be. What mission has changed? We still hold a requirement to fight full scale wars on 2 fronts. Guess what? We can't right now, not even close. A lighter force will get our asses kicked. Remember Iraq not long ago? When was it we got the upper hand? Oh thats right, when we put a shit pile of boots on the ground. So you can talk about F15's and Tanks and Corporations and blah blah blah. End of the day, obama has gutted the military, damn near sunk the Navy and we are in a very bad spot.

bull shit. don't act like the mission hasn't changed because it has. our main enemy right now isn't Russia or China or any other standing army for that matter. We spend more on our military than china, saudi arabia, russia, uk, india, france and japan combined. You have no facts to back up your perspective other than what 10 or so of your buddies have done or said. If Obama has gutted the military then show me a link that says so....the budget is public knowledge so let's see what you got hero. Because if all you got is the sequestration cuts then you at least have to lay 50% of the blame at the feet of congress too.

Well just because you say so doesn't make it so. You can stomp your feet and throw all the tantrums you want but WE the United States are supposed to have the capability to support 2 wars, different fronts. Now has that changed? Well only because we no longer have the capability. That is because the military has been gutted.

Preaching to yourself here pal. I didn't ask you to take my word for it....I gave you a link to support what I said. You are the one who supposes I should just take your word for it because you sure as hell are short on evidence.

No, no....not my style. I'm not angry.

This is Cold War mentality. You should understand the threats facing our country better than that.

    again, show me....don't tell me

Plenty out there. I didn't go the school of Red where I have to google things that I already know.

No, this is sound military strategy for a nation as big as ours. To back yourself into a corner HOPING that only one hotspot fires up on such a tedious planet is foolish.
Like I said, I'm not going to do the work for you. Especially if you are just going to dismiss it as "cold war thinking" that is dumb. We should be prepared to fight, hold and win 2 fronts. I get the light mobile force, we have that and can use it when needed but that isn't going to hold up. It puts far too great a strain on those that have to carry the load. Of course you wouldn't understand because you are pencil jockey and don't know what its like to do 12 plus in the box then fly home just long enough to clean all your shit and go do it again.

    Sleep tight
