Yeah because cursing at your television is great. I can't believe there are people here who equate neo nazis and klansmen to people who oppose them.
it's what you get when fingers are pointed..... politicians have always used tragedy to promote their agenda and have never met civil unrest they didn't like. this is much less about race for them as it is about power and control, marginalization of the opposition is the goal. I maintain there is little difference between the zealots in the klan and antifa. I think that those who "want to take their country back" look to the media and wonder what the goal of the media is. Here's one article about that: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/09/the-rise-of-the-violent-left/534192/
@Tiger in NC if someone tried secession today they would be traitors because the issue is settled. In 1861 it wasn't. You cannot judge the past by yesterday's standards. There is no doubt that slavery was the overwhelming issue in the civil war. However the means the south used to try to settle the question, secession was not settled and significant numbers on both sides of the Mason-Dixon Line saw it as legal and viable. By trying to use today's standards you would condemn most people north and south. For example child brides as young as 12 or less were not seen as they are today. In fact it was common. Child labor was state sanctioned etc etc. Looking across the Atlantic was Cromwell a traitor? He killed a king and his regime didn't last past his death. Yet there is a statue of him in front of Parliament. Should it be torn down. Don't try to evade by saying it's up to the English as you already said traitors don't deserve statues. What about the Jacobins in France?? Do you understand the term reconciliation??? The confederate soldiers were recognized as US veterans to enhance reconciliation. The statues were commissioned by veterans in the early 1900's as they gathered for the final times to remember. What about the statues of Lee and other confederate generals there are in the north. Are those racist or are they perhaps recognition that Lee and others were remarkable people who deserve honor in spite of what they did in the war? What about general Longstreet who became a republican after the war and fought for equal rights. BTW Lee and Beauregard for for equality as well. Oh yes how do you compare Beauregard to our current Mayor Morial???After the War, Pierre was head of the Sewerage and Waterboard in NO where he put in the drainage system that is still in operation today. He also oversaw the creation and electrification of the now famous trolley system, both of which Mitch it destroying as he also tears down the statues of much better men than he will ever be. No NC the standard you use is false and petty. It exhibits a shallow understanding of the past and either white guilt or some other self loathing.
What are they going to name every road, school, bridge, county, and public building after they take Robert Byrd's name down in West Virginia?
What the “Alt-Left” Trump Despises Was Actually Doing in Charlottesville Last Weekend - Slate http://www.slate.com/articles/news_...ft_was_actually_doing_in_charlottesville.html Interesting, seems like some feel the Nazi's started this shit and antifa actually helped some people out who were getting hit with shields and clubs. Maybe this is slant, im not sure I wasn't there, what I do know is if it came down to nazis or anti fascists im siding with the anti fascists every damn time.
It took you two hours to go 5 miles for that pic. Beautiful place, but getting to that mountain from Bull Mountain at 2 pm...it is a beating.
