I think placing them in a museum is a more appropriate use for them. I believe the ones from NOLA were placed in a city storage facility until they can find an appropriate place for them. I don't think the goal has ever been to destroy them altogether. It would be stupid to do so when they could be used for educational purposes.
Since Lee's statue is gone they should put one up of Fats Domino. Louis Armstrong would be worthy too but he already has the airport.
No they're right next to a construction materials depot with no protection from vandalism. There were supposed to be plans but the shithead mayor is too busy avoiding responsibility for his many other failures(streets, drainage) and shackling up with his girlfriend (he's not divorced or legally separated) to do what he promised.
Yeah just think of the "educational purposes" for kids. Yeah we could teach them to be to be afraid of statues and to erase history they dont like and look for "safe spaces" and to ban or shut down speech that offends them. Oh wait we are already doing that.
Stanford.....what a facking joke. They cover up athlete rapists and they have classes like this, White Identity Politics,” during which students will “survey the field of whiteness studies” and discuss the “possibilities of … abolishing whiteness,” according to the course description. Students will consider the perils and possibilities of different political practices,” according to the course description, “including abolishing whiteness or coming to terms with white identity.”
Dump the statue of Margaret Sanger. The left will implode arguing with each other over this one. Abortion activist, eugenics proponent. Libs love her, blacks not so much.
Not that I agree that the "Left" was as violent in Charlottesville as the Nazis, but what Trump is too racist and too stupid and too dishonest to understand is that that particular question is pretty meaningless. When people are angry things can spiral out of control. The TRUE issue is which set of principles there deserved presidential condemnation, and Trump failed his solemn oath to our democracy by equivocating. And you want to know WHY he is still equivocating? Because he's one of THEM. He, too, is a white nationalist. We know it by his activities regarding the Central Park Five. We know it by his housing discrimination against black would-be tenants. We know it by his employment of Steve Bannon. We know it by his campaign reluctance to disavow David Duke. And we know it by the testimony of one of his wives, who told us that Trump regularly went to bed with a Hitler book on his night stand.
That "city storage facility" is essentially a junkyard. Beauvoir, the mansion in Mississippi that was once Jefferson Davis' home, has offered to place them in their museum on the site. NO City Hall has not responded to the request, which was made a couple of months ago. Don't fool yourself; Mayor Landrieu has no intention of ever letting those statues be seen by the public again.
Henry Ford was honored by the Nazi's, the real Nazi's. This has been known for a long time, but I've never heard talk of boycotting or banning Ford automobiles over it. http://rarehistoricalphotos.com/henry-ford-grand-cross-1938/
IBM, Coca Cola, Hugo Boss, Bayer, Volkswagen of course, Siemens, I mean we could go on and on with a list of Nazi sympathizers or isolationists who turned a blind eye including....... and this is gonna sting... Joe Kennedy.
