that is a great game to bring up. like you said, first game for new DCs and they both got torched (actually, not sure id say uw torched lsu, just on 3rd downs). in 06 lsu D improved greatly and went on to beat very good Bama, Auburn and UF teams. the main difference between the two games is that AzSt was over hyped at #15 but ended up 7-5 for the year. theres a good chance that uw is underhyped.

I give this weekend a somewhat of a pass Saturday night especially...

It was the first game of the season, something we all get SUPER HYPED about and it WASNT ON UNTIL 930 at night. Emotions ran the gauntlet that day and well into the night.

What gets under my skin is the people that have been members since 2003 or 2004 and ONLY HAVE 14 post...and when you look at their post they ONLY come after tough games or after we lose and ALL THEY DO IS BASH AND BE NEGATIVE!!!

Now I know I know there are some people that have been here for awhile and just enjoy reading and post on the rare occasion..I understand that but those posters like that contribute something useful.

I think one more thing is some people didnt BECOME Tiger fans until after the 03 season...so they dont understand what it means to have to watch Curely Hallman coached teams, or go to a game and be more entertained by the fights in the stands instead of the product on the field.

But charlie sometimes you gotta take what people say with e grain of salt...anyone that is a Saints fan can back me up on this...I LOVE the Saints with a passion that is somewhat greater then the one I have for the Tigers..I always say my Black and Gold Heart pumps purple and gold blood. But I can not count on both hands how many times I said out load..."Thats it I am never watching these bums again" and yet every Sunday there I was having my heart broken time and time again.

I guess what I am trying to say you cant judge a fan and their fandom by what is said in the heat of the moment...judging by their actions after the dust as settled.

I also enjoy reading constructive criticism. I learn alot from people here because of the criticism. What I was referring to were the "I hate Miles", "pull the player", "we're gonna lose to a 0-12 team",,,,,crap like that. Are these fans? I can just not read some threads, but I did want to have a little intelligent conversation in the chat room. I can assure you, I won't make that mistake again.

Just to make it clear,,, I have nothing but the highest respect for most of the members here (even if our opinions differ) (yeah Red, I'm talkin about you). This would be a crappy place to visit if we all agreed on everything. But the guys that show up just to stir a pot of crap can really make it all suck. Guess I just need to be offline when the games' on.

I think the definition of True Tiger fan lies more in the continuance of following and routing for the Tigers through good and bad, not by the character and frustration of one's posts. We have high expectations of this Tiger's football team (as we had last year, and yes, the frustrations came out last year as well) because of the great recruiting and coaching hires. A lot was expected last Saturday night. It didn't meet to somes approval and to tell you the truth, I think those that were more vocal are likely the ones that do bleed a purer purple and gold. And don't tell me JB is not a true Tiger fan. The dude followed the Tigers continuously while fighting for his life. He lost it on the first drive last Sat night because his expectations were so high. He critiqued the baseball team with some harsh reality as well but I bet he was the first in line at Omaha. His youthful emotion will mellow with time.

My point is, don't judge someone's loyalty by the emotion in their posts. That's like questioning the loyalty of a multi year member of tigerforums living in Pittsburgh with just over 600 posts.

Touche'. You have a point. I've been negative on occasion also. I just thought it went a little overboard.
And just because I don't have 4000 posts, doesn't mean I have nothing to say. I just am a little more softspoken.

you have to look at someones posts as a body of work.

yes, there are some that all they EVER do is be negative, no matter what, or what time of year.

but there are those that truely bleed purple and gold that can get "overly excitable". sometimes it is due to a bit too much libation, sometimes not enough!

while i dont care for excessive doom and gloom, i do realize we all have our meltdowns at times. however, no matter what, there is never any need to go rabid in attacking others. and no charlie, i am not talking about your first post in this thread. im talking about those that go all pit bull on others for having different opinions. (disagreeing and attacking are two very different things.)

unfortunately, you are going to encounter negativity where ever you go. in the heat of the moment, people lose their heads.

its the maturity of conversation the rest of the time that sets tf apart. but there are always going to be those moments when some people just go bat-**** crazy.

I have to agree with you too, I think most people in general don't know too much about Washington's team and thought that this was going to be a blowout. Just because they were 0-12 last year doesn't mean a whole lot. They were 0-12 without the two people who really mattered, that is Jake Locker and Polk, both of which are extremely good players. Also the new head coach of Washington, Steve Sarkisian and if you do your homework, you know he's a heck of a coach who came from one of the biggest powerhouses from last year and in general USC. All that coupled with the time difference make a recipe for a hard game. A win is a win, it may have not been the prettiest way to win, and in some ways a letdown, but its still a win. Also think about the fact that many of the recruits LSU got did not play which means there is still a lot of firepower for this team. Instead of focusing on the negatives of the game, look at the positives. Not to mention, unlike most of the SEC teams, LSU actually played a FBS school, which is always harder than your Wester Carolinas and Western Kentuckys.
