I've kinda held my tongue since Saturday until now. I don't know by the numbers (Brett would know, I assume) how many people are regulars here since I joined several years ago.
I do know this: There are a lot of NEGATIVE people here that make it almost impossible to enjoy TF's the was I used to.
First of all, I realize that LSU has some problems to correct in order to continue this season with more wins. However, there were many reasons to be hopeful about the game and we did WIN. By reading the posts and checking out the TF Chat room, you'd think we lost by 5 touchdowns. I'm hoping Washington is a better team than advertised. I know they have a QB that will be playing for the NFL barring any injury.

So, what's my point? I've NEVER seen such Nasty, Hateful, Delusional, Childish things said about LSU from supposed LSU fans Saturday night. I DO NOT know how you can claim to be a fan and still write them off after one game. Normally, I enjoy posting and replying here but Saturday made me sick. I posted a thread several days ago asking if you'd boo Jarrett Lee when he was allowed to play. If the game was only attended by the Tiger Forums members, I wouldn't have needed to ask that question. Really made me sick.

What was done Saturday night was that ALOT of people showed their true colors......................and they were NOT purple and gold.

Some people overreacted, but I don't think overall people were all that negative. Criticizing your team is natural if you feel like they didn't perform as well as they could have. That doesn't mean that you are no longer a "true" fan if you crticize some aspects of the team. I personally think the defensive concerns are very legitimate, and if we want to be successful against the top SEC teams this year the team really needs to get its stuff together on defense.

I agree completely with what you say except for the negativity that was going on during the game. I think it was disgraceful. I personally have been critical of LSU at times, but not to that extent. I had to shut my computer down to keep my tongue.

And I am VERY hopeful for the rest of the season. :geaux:

I am right there with you charlie. I've just about had a gut full of it myself.

I'm tired of all the coach and player bashing. I'm tired of the "sky is falling" mentality.

National Championships are RARE, and very SPECIAL. We won one in 1958 and waited until 2003 to win another one. Then, we needed devine intervention in 2007 to get us to the title game. Some of you have become spoiled, .....

Another thing I'm tired of- all this True Freshman talk. We love us some Russell Shepard around here, but will we love him after he throws an interception or two? What if he loses a fumble on our end of the field which results in points for the bad guys?

We have a very bright coaching staff at LSU. I bet they want to put the best players on the field, and they want to win. IF A FRESHMAN WAS BETTER THAN A JUNIOR, THEY'D HAVE HIS A$$ IN THE GAME.

If you've never coaches anything, or played competitive sports, I'll give you a few tips to help you out:

1.) What you start with is never what you finish with. Never. Ever. Some players come on. Your team improves. Your team evolves.

2.) You play a style that suits your players. If you're coaching boys basketball and you have a couple really big kids with good hands, you post them up and pound the ball inside. You teach your team how to get the ball down low and then to move to soft spots in the defense for open shots. Etc, Etc.

3.) Some players look great in practice but terrible in games. When you get a player like this it takes a while before you give up on him and move him to another spot. You've seen him make the play a kabillion times in practice.

4.) Some players look average in practice but are MONSTERS in games. Eventually this player becomes one of your core players, but again, it takes a while to figure it out.

5.) Players "get it" at their own pace. You never know when the light is going to finally come on. Every player is different. As the coach, it's your job to pound fundamentals, keep fine-tuning your plays and never stop working to improve your team and it's players.

    That's it for today.

Everyone needs to back away from the ledge. Stop acting like 'Bama fans.

    We're going to be fine.

To write the season off after the first game is just ridiculous. I saw a lot of the negative comments, as well, and you'd think it was the end of the world or something. This was the FIRST game where we implemented a NEW defense. Did anyone really expect it to go perfectly? I'm not worried right now, at all. We'll regroup and address the problems that need addressing. If anything, this game was the perfect eye-opener for the coaches. I don't know that they would've seen the holes had we played a team like, oh I don't know, ULM, San Jose St, Charleston State or any of the other patsy teams that top 10 teams played and destroyed. This team will be much better off in the long run.

Not to mention the fact that Washington showed up to play, plain and simple. They were definitely not the 0-12 team that everyone (unfairly) was expecting. Mark my words, I expect Washington to give the PAC-10 a run for it's money.

I joined this board a long time ago but never posted (actually forgot about it). I re-registered (forgot all my login and PW) but I got sick and tired of another board that lives and thrives on negative posting. Seemed like a bunch of 10 year olds have taken over the board along with an overwhelming bunch of negative people.

After reading this board for a couple of weeks, it's not near as negative and really refreshing to read some sensible posts. I think that the negatives post here are at this time are somewhat legitimate however a little premature.

I don't think we saw all that the Tigers can bring and I certainly don't buy Davies saying that the Tigers were "tired". And I don't want to be the one to be define what a True Tiger Fan is. They're probably the most passionate fans in the country.:geaux:

It was very irritating to read all of the "we shoulda won by 1 brazillion" posts. I understand pointing out some things, but these posts made it hard to enjoy the greatness of the game:

1.) I've been waiting 9 months to watch MY team play on a Saturday night again

2.) The defense sputtered but I was happy to watch them. They scored our first touchdown of the season! I feel like that's an omen in itself.

3.) Jordan Jefferson ran the ball extremely well. Scott didn't hook it up like I thought he would, but it'll come.

4.) Winning is important, but I've been a Saints fan since I was conceived. (Meaning I'm all about the ENTIRE gameday experience.)

All in all, I say suck it to the doubters of the first game

what this post says is true.

if you think this place is bad after a lackluster performance...

i've defended the team way more than i've attacked it but the dissenting opinions make for good discussion.

deep down i would hope the negativity stems from a passion for LSU no matter how displaced some of the posts are.

for instance there's one guy i know around here who loves LSU, but his posts been ultra negative.

part of it for me, i would think, i think some people had really high expectations and there's a group of some of those people that go besrk when the team doesn't look like their xbox version of the tigers.

anyway good first post, 59, you should post more often.

    Outstanding post.

Some people apparently want to hear that everything is gonna be alright and don't like to face reality. Those people need to visit kumbaya.com

Aside from the couple of threads that did actually have the "sky is falling" mentality, the rest of the threads have been more than sensible as you alluded to and are worth debating.

If you think it is bad here, try joining or even visiting tigerdroppings.com. You'll thank heavens there is a tigerforums.com.

You seem to get more erratic the later it gets, you need to start going to bed at night pup. The Chad Jones thread is evidence of this.:hihi:
