You're missing one obvious thing. A lot of the LSU players recruited by the former coach were coming here regardless. Dorsey, Steltz, do you think that he was going to play somwhere else? Also, key contributers to that team were Miles recruits, due to injury, we played a lot of players besides the starters. Keiland Williams, Chad Jones, Rahiem Alem, etc. Those are LSU's players, not the coaches, whoever he is.
I disagree. Lots of coaches can win with talent, but aren't good at recruiting or developing players. Look at Coker - when he was winning, it wasn't with HIS players. HIS players weren't near as good as the guys he inherited. So, I have no problem with people questioning if Miles can win with his own players. He's shown he can recruit & develop talent with the best of them. If some people can't see that yet, so what - they will soon enough. You're fooling yourself if you think players don't sign up to play with certain coaches. Sure, some prospects were going to come to LSU regardless, but some wouldn't - as we saw when a host of them decommitted once Saban left.
You also aren't familiar with the culture here. We aren't used to having a lot of "haters" or people questioning Miles (at least as of this past season). I imagine that you were making this post assuming the culture would be similar to your last board where you constantly had to defend Miles - no need here. Once Patrick Johnson takes over one of the CB positions I think we'll have plenty of talent there. QB is a different story.
I count 11 but I can't remember if any of these signed on after Miles took the job. Maybe you can help? Kirston Pittman Herman Johnson Brett Helms Tyson Jackson Harry Coleman Curtis Taylor Charles Alexander Marlon Favorite Quinn Johnson Ryan Miller Trumaine Johnson I also agree because these guys were not developed by Saban and are Miles' players.
Coleman originally signed with Saban, but I don't believe he got on campus until Miles' first year. Other than that, all Saban recruits. Absolutely.
Man, you guys are rediculous. At this point it does not matter who signed the players. Miles still had to coach them up. You have beaten this topic to death. It reminds me of the talking heads discussing the presidential election. Enough already! Miles has more than proven he is an excellent coach with a bit of a riverboat gambler mentality. But the gambles paid off and that's all that matters. Who recruits the players makes no difference at all. The only time that this should be discussed is if there is a big drop in talent on the team. Then we can discuss Miles ability as a recruiter. But his coaching ability is not in dispute.
