The true test of a coach = his won/loss record, especially in the big games. Miles once had something to prove, but that time is long gone. His first :crystal: was so sweeeeeeeeeeeet. The years will come and geaux fast for LSU, but as long as Miles remains with his cadre of loyal, well-trained coaches and maintains solid Top 10 recruiting, year after year, LSU will be a force to be reckoned with in the modern BCS FB era.
   *sigh* The Turtle likes to think the same thing too. Sorry, back to the discussion bout Miles.
I think the loss of Bo Pelini will hurt the most, although his defense of "bend but don't break" wasn't my favorite. I am still wondering how our Co-DC situation will go... and I'm not real pumped about the CoDCs. I think one of the more positive aspects of Les Miles coaching ability is the fact that he surrounds himself with great Coordinators, thus not having to be the greatest coach in college football year in and year out. Not going after a talented DC makes me wonder... but I'm not going all Chicken Little. The QB situation will be frustrating regardless. The fact that we don't have a feature back is null and void... we have two great running backs in Charles Scott and Keiland Williams. Add to that Trindon's change of pace as well as Richard Murphy's talent. And that's one hell of a Running Back by Committee... which is where the shift is heading in all of football. Our Dbacks aren't weak... we have hella good Safties. And an inexperienced yet talented core of Linebackers albeit with little quality depth. Cornerback is a weakness, but with Patrick Johnson coming in... I'm not super worried about this right now. DLine will be amazing... OLine will be improved... WR super deep and talented...TE... Dickson, enough said... So I really don't think Miles will be "truly tested" anymore this year then he has been his entire tenure here. He's just gotta coach 'em up and let them win, and hope one of the 3 young QB's shows some leadership and playmaking ability.
Unbiased outside opinion here. He's got nads as big as church bells and he ain't boring. He says what is on his mind............I like that.
As long as I can remember, thru conservative coaches like McClendon, Dinardo, Saban, LSU fans always wanted a daring coach. Well, we got one now!
You know, the questions at QB, CB, LB, and Co-DC's...they may deserve a thread. But I just don't get why people...especially LSU FANS...still believe there are questions about Les Miles. Stupifying.:nope: By the way...welcome to the board.:hihi:
I have no doubt Les will win this year. We have players that will step up and get it done just like the past three years. There are couple things I don't agree with that happen last year and hell it happens with every coach not one is perfect, you can't expect them to be. I think we should have actually ran the ball more last year and blitzed the QB more. I don't agree with the way he keeps seniors in the game even though a younger player is better. It works and his players love to play for him so who am I or you to judge how he coaches. I am looking forward to us humiliating defenses by running it down their throats! No one is better in the trenches than LSU! Our QB's will be fine because of this.
Nothing will ever test Miles as much as the events of his first season did. No coach as had a team go through as much and come out of it so successful. Les Miles is a brilliant, hardworking, tenacious, talented coach who commands respect and admiration from his assistants and his players.
