Troy up 31-17 and had the ball at the LSU 41 with 4th and 2. Less than 13 minutes to go in the game.

All the momentum going LSU's way.

I couldn't believe when I heard that they were going for it.

This was the real turning point in the game.

You gotta back Lee up in his own endzone and take your chances of him making another error.

    The rest is well.....history.

    I agree.

I guess he felt the momentum swinging towards LSU and gambled that he could arrest the pendulum. Backfired.

I bet he's already kicking his own a$$ about it.

Strange call. Making it on 4th and 2 doesn't necessarily arrest the momentum situation, but missing it definitely swings it LSU's way. Wow.

    Exactly.

They probably don't even get 3 out of it even if they make it.

Did anyone else think that was an illegal formation on that play anyway (those 10,000 people who saw it)? I want to re watch that play.

Actually, I agreed with it. Because I was hoping that they would punt it. I didn't feel optimistic at all that we could stop them because they had dominated us on 3rd and short. I didn't think 4th and short would be any different. I think he was feeling that if they could get it, continue the drive and score a field goal or TD, it would totally take the air out of LSU.

Obviously, that didn't happen. I can't even explain it. It was a hopeless, unthinkable comeback. I almost have nothing to realistically compare it to. There was that Houston game, but this was an absolute horrible performance midway through the 3rd and we had nothing on offense that was giving us any hope (and not much on D).

It's tough being a coach. Blakeney had his guys ready to play and believing they could beat LSU at Tiger Stadium. Their game plan and execution was flawless and they very nearly pulled the mega upset. But let one decision backfire on you and it's straight to the hot seat to explain why you suck so badly.

Yeah, exactly, and I don't think that was that bad of a decision for a SBC team who is trying to win the game in a formidable environment with momentum going the other way and against the defending NC. I actually do not remember that call with 13:00 left. I remember the 4th and 1 with about 3:00 left and certainly did not question that decision since they were behind at that point and with the rule changes regarding the clock continuing to run, etc.
