I'm just saying the name that has been swung around people who are insiders around Austin. Not saying they have him, but he's one of their top targets according to my sources.

I'm sure he is one of the guys their alumni and boosters would like to have.

Shaw is Stanford alum and played football, basketball, and ran track for the Cardinal. His dad used to be an assistant coach there and was in the running for their head coaching job as well.

I can't see Stanford matching a big money offer from TX, but there's a lot to make you think he won't leave the coast.

The unknown in all of this is how big of a dumpster fire TX is going to be when Mack does leave.

As we were saying in another thread, it's a real gamble when you bring in a new guy.

Yeah, in listening to him speak about it, the job seems to mean a lot more to him than just a paycheck. I think he gets a lot of value and satisfaction from leading his alma mater, and quite frankly, I find that refreshing. But who knows; I wouldn't expect him to utter anything that might insinuate that he would leave if given the chance. A Stanford boy is much smarter than that.

The normal names are coming up here in Tx. You know Chucky, and everyone else you can think of. Les is a name that is being thrown around. If Les didn't leave for Mich. odds are against him moving. One thing they keep throwing up is Smacker, the daughter of Les being at ut, don't see that one coming into play. Most good coaches know much of the problems at ut are off the field. Like I always say, if you are gonna get rid of a coach, you better have one as good or better to replace him. ut thinks they can call anyone and that coach will drop everything to come to take over the job. This one is a good one to keep an eye on, but still too much football left to play.

Smacker is at UT because they have a great swim team and she's a great swimmer. That's it.

And she'll only be there four years. After that, then what?

I would think Les would not like to relocate his other three kids to be closer to one who is in college (when kids move away anyway.)

Wasn't this the reason Jack Del Rio was gonna coach at LSU years back? Daughter at LSU?

I used to live in Austin and my wife is a UT alum. I have tons of UT fan friends. I can tell you that Les Miles and UT would be like oil and water.

The classic slogan is "Keep Austin Weird" but when it comes to UT they like to think they are all prim and proper and A&M is where the "weird" people are. Les is too "weird" for them.
