I would have to think they are willing to do most anything to get back on top.

If Mack can get an additional 8 yrs with poor showings each year after their '05 NC... a coach like Saban can pretty much coast to retirement while raking a ton of cash.

I heard from someone with connections Texas was prepared to offer Nicky $25MM/year to come. Sound preposterous but who knows.

I wouldn't be surprised to see them go after Sumlin.

Look at the hires in the SEC last year, would Tx hire one of those guys? We'll see. Look back, a&m hired francis, that was a fail from day one. Remember this, when saban leaves, who's his replacement. Remember who replaced bear, an what did he do? You want to be the guy that replaces the guy that replaced bear. Very few can come in to a place an maintain stability, Les did. You can count on one hand these guys. Oh, some will do well for the first year and some the second, but after that???????

In the state, a&m is the new tx. a&m will play heck holding on to their coach, his name is being pushed around. Remember how hot some names were, the list is endless, hot one time, then on the "Hot Seat." A fine line.

I know I always talk stability, in the profession, this is coming into play more and more. Families don't like to move every year or every other year. Few jobs are stable and pay good money, when you find one, you want to keep it.

Come on pops, just spit it out. You sound just like a coach, lots of words, the mouth is moving but you aren't saying anything. What is it already? ;)

And he never would have won one there, either. It's the same reason Bielema wanted to come to the SEC when the Big 10 is so much easier. True competitors, like coaches, want to compete on the biggest stages with the highest stakes. High risk = high rewards. The adrenaline rush is everything for most of these coaches.

Miles bitches about our tough schedule; we do, too. But how much more exciting is it to play UGA or Florida than Kentucky or Vanderbilt?

It's the same reason Mack went to Texas, instead of staying at boring North Carolina.
