I posted in another thread, don't remember which one but Switzer has achieved God status here. They refer to him as "The King" and I'm not joking.

As for Mack, meh, just what I think is going to happen. We will see, you might be right who knows but I'm still going with Mack to AD, it has been the talk for a good number of years now.

FIFY. I recall you telling me you were an English major. I hold you to a different standard, so tighten up. As far as the content, I agree.

Has he lost control of the football program? Not really. He is definitely looks out of touch with the game and getting out X and O'd by less fortunate programs. I wouldn't question whether he was capable of being a good coach as a gauge of how he might do as an AD. I would want to know if he was in touch with what it takes to be a successful AD. The days of installing a figurehead AD are over. My guess is that Mack will be wearing Longhorn Network gear with a microphone and a camera in his face this time next year.

Thank you. I thought about that word all of three seconds and moved on; just said "screw it, I'm not sure which is right."

"...if it's just the story of one guy compared to another we have a singular story compared to a singular story...screw it, I'm not sure which is right..."

    Guessed.

Let me go a little deeper in things alike.

If we take the recruiting trail alone both coaches adopted the same type approach but for different reasons—they tried to recruit their backyard from their office. Yes, it's a CEO role but not to the point a program can function at the highest level with the head coach sitting in his chair, behind his desk.

Tubs had that attitude to the degree he was in Arkansas hunting during a visiting period before signing day in 2008. It was almost like he was following what Brown was doing step by step.

LHN? What's he going to be doing? He'll have to avoid everything happening on the football field. I certainly can't see a school wanting an ex-coach commenting on their new coach or much less doing it on TV.

    SIDE NOTE/THOUGHT:

If there ever was a time where Texas needs national exposure—as in positive for the football program—it's right now, this weekend. A good win over Ole Miss on one of the ESPN networks would be great for their program. But, when they need that type of exposure the most this game is broadcast on their own network with very limited viewership in their effort to squeeze every last...

NOW, if Ole Miss wins they might be glad it's on LHN.

Hope the AD stays the course with Mack. Personally, Texas is one those schools that I just love to see in disarray.

Texas is up there with Notre Dame and USC in my list of most disliked teams.

Sure Texas is loaded, but Bama is getting the best of the best from several states right now. Being in Texas would give him a bunch of easy to notch recruits and likely provide more depth, however the to notch talent level would not improve in my opinion.

Brown isn't qualified to run a big time Texas sized athletic department and wouldn't try. The days of an ole ball coach taking that job is over.

UT Austin could compete against (IMO) any university if it had the right coach and recruiter. A coach like Saban would be even more dominant at Texas, first off because of the local talent level. Second of all, Saban is about championship football. He wouldn't have to convince recruits to leave their state anymore, except the few that he feels he really needs from states like louisiana. It's not your normal huge university that enjoys it's football. This is one of the best universities scholastically in the country and it's alumni are influential and wealthy. What I gather, when things are going well there on the field their coffers are full like no other. It's located pretty in the middle of the country where recruits and their parents don't normally have to travel great distances to see them play. Over the last several years Mack Brown has missed on several huge in-state players that he could've used. a few that come to mind are andrew luck, rgIII, manziel. Hate to say this, because I think Mack Brown is a more than decent person who runs his team in the most ethical of ways, but the game has passed him by. There is no way so many of the in-state schools should be better than UT...ever, not to mention out of state teams such as Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, who have many Texas recruits.

I am surprised that so many people want to see Saban bolt for another program so he's be out of the SEC and no longer a nemesis to LSU. Frankly, I hope he stays at Bama so we can beat his ass on a regular basis.

He can't leave, to be honest. If he jumps ship from Gumpville, his reputation will take a huge hit because he'll look like he knew about everything and left the university holding the bag. If all of this stuff if true with respect to Fluker, agents, and cash, Bama will get hit with vacated wins and reduced scholarships.

Let Saban stay and sit at the poker table with a losing hand for a few seasons.

Like the Honey Badger, Saban don't care. He takes what he wants. LOL. I hear you. As much as I would love to see a Gump meltdown, the arguments you and others have posted have swung me to want to keep ol Saban around the SEC.
