See it how you want. He didn't walk over to their sideline, it was on the way to the locker rooms. Hoyt CLEARLY taunted him, you can see that by Coach Petersen's reaction. If you see it any other way, you're blind. Here's a video from a BSU fan. He even claims that two guys in the stands taunted, threatened and assaulted Blount. -Oregon didn't pay $25k to Lyles for Seastrunk to come to Oregon. He said multiple times that he never directed a single player to ANY school. Why would he escort Seastrunk to LSU if he wanted him to go to Oregon for the payday? Makes no sense. I guess they paid $25,00 to Lyles for some last minute info that was two years old. "Yea, That's the ticket !!" "I don't see Oregon as being dirty. I'd bet at least half of the SEC teams are doing shadier things than Oregon ever did. They've just been playing the game longer, so they know how to cover their tracks better." Hey Lasalle, can you get me some of that stuff this guy's been smoking?
Oh, really? Got anything other than a hunch to back that up? Or are you just diverting the argument? I love it. The SEC dominates the landscape of CFB, so we must be cheating.
Come on now. You're just being naive if you think ANY major program is clean. I said SEC, but that can easily be said about any other BCS conference, even the BCS buster schools.
He was paid for information, most of it verbal scouting reports. He was told he wouldn't have to send anything written until the following year. I'm sure if Oregon had asked for it at the time, he would have provided it. He did submit an updated report as well, but Oregon didn't present that until 3 days later. No one talks about that, because it's not as sensational of a story. Go figure.
If you go back to the year it happened, there were other instances of other programs having similar issues, and the players punishment was much, MUCH less. "On Saturday, Idaho linebacker Tre'Shawn Robinson was ejected for throwing a punch in a game against San Jose State. On Monday, Western Athletic Conference commissioner Karl Benson responded by reprimanding Robinson and warning that any future problems could result in a one-game suspension" "Michigan linebacker Jonas Mouton, who was suspended for one game after he punched a Notre Dame player last month." So for Blount to not see the field again, is not a fair statement.
This video laduckfan posted is pretty conclusive. Clearly there were mitigating circumstances. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=33yk_QzfyiI&feature=related"]YouTube - Boise State Fan Hits Legarrette Blount‏[/ame] Blount was considered going into the season to be one of the nations leading rushers. He missed 10 games of his senior season, and was not drafted by the NFL. He payed a very stiff price for his actions. A couple of months later a player from Florida was filmed trying to gauge the eyes of a Georgia player. He was suspended for 1/2 of a game. come on, man... everyone knows urban myth is a harsh disciplinarian. what you didnt see was he prolly gave the kid a "stern talking to". yeah, that's the ticket....
Not shadier, I spoke incorrectly. I meant to say that they too operate in the grey areas, and break NCAA rules. Shoot, technically if a player's friend buys him dinner, it's an extra benefit. Having a broke player crash on your couch for a week until he get's back on his feet is an extra benefit. I'm only using those as examples, but you can see that it's all in the NCAA and college's interpretation of the rules. Again it's naive to believe that ANY major program is completely clean.
