Have fun riding that motorcycle in the winter in New York. I can see that if you live in Manhattan having a house with a garage might cost more than the national debt. Do use Uber instead of taxis now?

I have seen the video of Daniel Pearl getting beheaded and the one @uscvball posted of ISIS burning that Jordanian pilot alive. That's enough gore for me. Is the best gore site on the dark web or the regular internet?

No, the world is getting more violent. But it is a big world. You have to be a smart traveler.

I can't argue with an article. But the guy's opinions are full of flaws.

What do you think? I'll argue with you.

Nobody tweeted medieval torture chambers or put the video on the internet. martin is probably one of those people just born lucky. He could probably walk into an ISIS training camp and ask for directions and get them.

There have been some pretty thorough studies on this and it turns out this (more or less, not this actual minute) is the most peaceful time in history. The level,of violence of 2015 is actually pretty minimal.

Stephen pinker, who is clearly Americas smartest public intellectual, wrote a book about it called the better angels of our nature. The case is strong.

When I was a kid they had a war on tv every day. They blew up the American embassy in Beirut in 1983. Planes have been hijacked and blown up pretty much constantly all my life. It's just now I pay attention more.
It's not that, it's just that nothin is actually dangerous. It's like shark attacks or plane crashed. I think I read there was 6 million safe flights for every crash.

But speaking of the topic, the worst place I ever went was San Pedro sula, Honduras. It really was terrible. I also went to Caracas, which was awful. Those places are far more dangerous than Lebanon or probably most of the non fighting parts of Iraq and Syria. Latin America is a killzone.

I used uber last night from my hotel in Beirut through the Hezbollah neighborhoods in south Beirut to the airport. I have used uber in Mumbai and Nairobi and Mexico City. It's great for so many reasons, mostly because those places have cabbies that are corrupt like a motherfucker and will, argue all goddamn day about fares. One time I paid 10x the local rate (in Manila I paid 20 when the real fare was 2) because I just have no idea. It's hard to know how much things cost everywhere all,the time. Uber solves everything. And no long-routing either. Uber is great. I use it in New York all the time. I even use uber pool which pairs you up with folks going the same direction for cheaper fares. I tried lyft but I hate tipping.

Best gore is a normal site. Don't do it.

I know an uber driver in Baton Rouge who regularly works in New Orleans and picks people up at the airport all the time. Since there is no sign on an uber driver's car maybe they just don't know he is a driver yet.

There are lots of different types of uber, uber black, uber X, uberpop, uber suv.

Uber X doesn't require fancy black luxury cars, that's what I take. If they had uber motorbike taxi and it was cheap I would take that because I don't care what the vehicle is. The one that is illegal is uber X at MSY. Uber black is legal but cost like 65 instead of 30.
