That's the bottom line. He is not the same kind of player as Demps, Harvin, Rainey and that dude from Oregon State. And honestly, just watching him catch punts scares the hell out of me.
When he's in the game, the ball goes to him. It's pretty obvious, and the defense keys in on him. Also, he's been inconsistent with just fielding punts, and when returning kicks, he's been mediocre at best. He may be the only guy on the team, other than Lee, that can be arm tackled with ease. Anyone notice he runs out of bounds a lot? Maybe it's just me, but he isn't near as electrifying as he used to be...
It would also likely help if we actually block when we give him his one to two carries each game. We ran him once yesterday and the one guy we absolutely needed to block goes untouched into the backfield. Trindon tried to hurdle him with no help, but he got stopped for no gain. He'd likely have difficulty hurdling a Yorkie, so what are his chances against a 6'3 200+ pound guy. He needs some help. Now would be the time to incorporate him into the offense a little more with Jefferson in at QB. You bring him in motion like we used to do with Skylar Green in his first few seasons and you make the D guess who is gonna run. Our offensive playcalling seriously lacks creativity at this point.
