Any word on Les giving Trindon another shot at returning punts vs. MSU? The little guy has bad judgment back there, but, man, can he fly! If I were Les, I'd start Chad Jones as PR, then once the game is comfortably in hand, give Trindon another shot or two. That way if he fumbles it doesn't cost LSU the game. And if he does okay, his confidence could get a boost. It is frustrating to have a weapon like Trindon that can't be used more often because of risk. :milesmic:
I think they'll let him have another shot at it. That was a bad night and everyone has one every once in a while. Example.. I was pretty pissed off at Lafell last season when he had his little slump, but he's been pretty impressive this season to say the least. Besides, we got plenty of ways to beat Mississippi State so even if he does have trouble, I doubt seriously it will cost us the game. Speaking of Mississippi State..... Oh Clara!!! Claradawg!!! Here boy!! (whistles)... Got some year old left over crow I been saving for ya! Come get it!
This isn't just a bad game. It's what he does at practices as well, unfortunately. I wish he didn't have the yips, but he does. I just can't see us putting Holiday out there vs Florida. So instead of having Holiday losing his confidence over something he can't get past mentally, let's use him on offense and kickoffs and make life miserable for our opponents in that manner.
I was at the Auburn game, and sam him muff at least 2 punts during warm ups, and i wasn't even watching him the entire time... sooo.... i dunno if we will see him back at PR unless something drastic changes.
The guy can run. Both of his fumbles were from making late adjustments under the ball. Maybe he needs to see another eye doctor.
You can tell by looking at him he is not a natural punt returner and is not very fluid when trying. I'd put him back there for home games and think about someone else on the road.
I agree. One he seemed to lose in the lights then he started running forward and ending up sort of diving to make the catch attempt. The other he clearly should have let go inside the 10 but seemed to think he had it until the last second. Not sure if it is nervousness, not remembering the rules of catching a punt, or that he just does not do a good job of anticipating the trajectory of the football.
I'd rather a nice field and no return 100% of the time over a 50% chance of fumbling by a great returner. It's just too important of a job...let Jones do his thing, whatever it may be.
