As a season ticket holder, I have been been to all but a few of LSU's home games this year and seen a few of their road games on TV. With that being said, i am beginning to wonder how good of a coach Trent Johnson really is. Each game, LSU looks terrible in the paint (O&D), runs the worst offense I have ever seen (usually 1-2 passes then jacking the shot up), rarely feeds the post, and rarely plays lock down defense. Talent or not, that is fundamental basketball and coachable. Is CTJ the answer? How much longer does he have? while it is early, i'm a little frustrated with my 700 bucks for 2 basketball tickets and seeing them look like the 3rd or 4th best team in the state.
do you understand what rebuilding means? do you have a clue about the talent coming in? how young the talent that is there is? When you can honestly answer those questions you will have your answer. Until then go to the games and have fun, and next year get your tickets again and enjoy the ride.
He proved that he can get it done when he's got players. Now it's up to him to recruit thw players. He needs more time yet.
I don’t follow LSU basketball much but saw he had a 13-3 regular season record and 26-7 overall his first year with an SEC title. What’s to rebuild? Did he lose the whole team or not recruit well? Serious inquiry, I have no idea.
Pretty much. After that year, he lost Thornton, Temple, Johnson, Martin, and Thornton (5 out of his top 7 scorers, 57% of the offense). Temple was an elite perimeter defender. We only signed two players in that class (Dotson and Ludwig). I think he made the decision to sacrifice short-term success for the program to be better in the long run. I could be wrong.
Pretty much tiga...he had a slew of seniors his 1st season and not much after that due to poor recruiting by the previous coaching staff.
