This one appears to have legs: http://www.cbssports.com/collegebas...tball/18345352/tcu-targets-lsus-trent-johnson
And now ESPN says the move is "likely": http://espn.go.com/dallas/ncb/story...son-likely-leave-tcu-horned-frogs-sources-say Way too much smoke to this now.
I would say it is likely as well as long as the interest in him is true and they don't have other candidates ahead of him. He knows he will not or I at least hope not get an extension from LSU this year. So he will have to choose between 1 year with us with the hope of getting a new contract or taking one now for multiple years.
With Hamilton gone we have nobody to help O'Bryant inside and no post game. This season is going to be ugly. Trent's stock can only take a big hit either way if he sticks around another year, and he should be well aware of that.
No leverage if he waits a year. We have 4 open scholarships now and could have someone to help O'Bryant.
With the lack of bench depth we needed an above average class even when we thought Hamilton was returning, and that was already questionable by Trent's recruiting history. Now we need a miracle. Best case scenario is we somehow manage to get Pelle, and even then there's no way a 6'10" freshman is going to match the production of a 7' senior in the paint, offensively or defensively. We already got pounded inside a lot last season, and it's going to kill us this season. I don't see how things finish well for Trent with one more season here.
Alleva will offer him a gazillion dollars to stay so he won't have to hire a replacement. That's how Joe rolls.
