ah so they all dont have to finish. i thought maybe the leaders time gets tallied as long as the others finish at some point. so its like a derby owner of 2 horses who sends his sprinter to wear out the others as his money horse finishes up.
yes that's how the team concept works....you sacrifice yourself for the guy on your team who has a shot at winning it all The only thing I am not sure about is what constitutes the gap required to get a different time posted? 5 seconds apart? 10 seconds apart? anybody know?
Well, all riders do have to finish the stage. Not sure izzle if there is a set amount of seconds. I believe for the peleton it is more about proximity to one another.
Lance has never been in the position to have to ride for someone else. At least I don't think so. Maybe in his first Tour De France he did.
Word from Lance is that he will now support Cantador and give up his chance at winning it this year. Look for Lance to be back next year with his own team.
and if that's the case, look for Lance to be staring at Contador's behind most of the race. Dude is an incredible champion, but he's just not the best anymore.
I wonder what the outcome would have been had Lance been on the team as the only one having a shot at the yellow jersey. Lance didn't budge when Contador broke away today, telling me it was all planned to support Contador to bring home the victory. So it's that Lance isn't the best anymore, it's more the circumstances. Next year will be exciting if Lance can come back with his own team.
i dunno if it was planned for contador to win. lance did have a teammate with him today when contador moved. i simply think contado was a bit stronger than lance today. if lance had moved and opened a gap on contador, i think the team would have been obliged to take lance to paris and help him win. but contador is slightly stronger so the team has to choose him and work with him. i dont think that decision was necessarily made until today. perhaps if they were on different teams, we would still have a race, with lance's team pushing him to win against contador. but as it stands, the team has to commit to contador. also i find it odd that lance rides for astana, under a kazakh flag. and slso i would like note that virtually any sport is fun to watch. i saw men's volleyball worlds yesterday and i loved it. how are sports so awesome?
Lance is too competitive. He says he'll play a supporting role and will...unless he sees an opportunity
