You must be thinking of something else...Vince did NOT beat us in that game. Our offensive playcalling on the other hand...

If you want to continue to argue about it we should probably retire to an OSU board, though...don't think LSU fans really care about a regular season game we lost 3 seasons ago.

one game does not make or break a coach, or at least it shouldn't. JT is far and beyond Mack Brown as a coach, even if you believe he JT was out coached in that game, which is very debatable. Mack Brown is one of those great recruiters, ala Nick Saban, pete Carroll, and apparantly Charlie Weiss. But don't mistake those guys for being great coaches. Don't think that i am in someway understating the importance of recruiting, it's dam near everything. Without it you don't have a shot. But if your just talking about coaching ability it's another story.

You know, I been thinkin about this and maybe the sportswriter is right.
:milesmic: is obviously a good coach , but is he really smart? I mean can he play chess or do compicated arithmetic like long division. After all, he is from a state that prides itself on its college students being able to spell a 4 letter word and knowing where to dot the i :insane: . Can he play checkers? Can CJT play checkers? I can just see the two of them hunkered over the board and at the end :milesmic: crowing 'CROWN ME, and have a GRRREAT DAY!'

note- I have made lots of sillier posts than this, but it was on another board:lol:

Buckeye507 why don't you go browse Buckeyeplanet for a few minutes. I read so many position breakdowns over there that are so biased it's unreal. I can't tell you how many times that I have read "Dorsey is over-rated". When healthy he is the best player in college football. And I won't you to give me some serious reasons why OSU will win. Let's see where this team has improved from last year. QB Boeckman or Heisman winner T. Smith. Nope not there. How about receiver, Hartline Robiskie or Ginn Hutch. Nope not there. Pittman Wells or Wells. Nope not there either. Defense has improved but not that much. LSU has improved at every position except QB. And the LES tressel coaching debate, lots of analyst will say before bowls "the coaches have had time to come up with their best game plan". Miles 2 bowls at LSU 81-17, what kind of plan did tressel have last year. Good luck Monday, and yes I am a homer.

    Buckeye507:
    1) As far as flamers go, this is one of the better forums you can find for level-headed posters balancing out a few die-hard flamers.
    2) If you had hoped to convert anyone to the Church Of The Dotted I, an opposing team forum probably isn't the best place to gather the fold. I'd suggest going to Cincinnati and working over the young Bearcat followers, who have certainly lost their way.
    3) I'm a die-hard Hawkeye and a Big Ten fan, but when I want to check in on the SEC goings-on, I come here. Sure, there's folks here who firmly believe Ohio State couldn't beat UL-Monroe, let alone LSU. But, hey, we've got folks on the Hawkeye forum who think we're gonna win the Big Ten outright every year... kinda like when your doorbell rings and your dog races to the door, thinking it's for him.
    4) Never call flamers out by name. They already know who they are.
    5) Good Luck tomorrow night!

My take on this game is simple, and I will reiterate.

Ohio State's offense is too vanilla and conservative to give LSU's stout defense any kind of problem. Their QB is not mobile enough (I think we discussed that ad nauseum), their RB is not flashy enough (see McFadden/Jones two headed monster) and their receivers are good but not game breaking.

Ohio State does not match up well offensively against our D. I will not move from that stance.

Now, on the flipside, your defense will cause us problems at times. I don't think Hester will do well in this game. I do think however, that our speed at QB, our receivers and our other running backs will give your LBs and some of your defensive backfield trouble. So speed does factor a great deal with the amount of success we will have offensively Monday night.

I contend that Boeckman will face way too many 3rd and longs and will be pressured into bad decisions (at least 2 picks, maybe 3). LSU will score a couple of times on a short field.

Our weakness in return coverage won't be exploited by what is a very average return game of OSU. Again, one of the few weaknesses of this team won't rear it's ugly head. Advantage LSU.

That is why I predicted LSU 33, Ohio State 17.

This game will be a lot closer and will be up for grabs if we decide to have 13 penalties for 122 yards and drop 8 passes. I sure hope to hell that doesn't happen.

I hate it when my wife tells me the plot before I've read the book.

I think what pisses LSU fans off at articles like these are CLM has done nothing to merit these attacks. He hasn't lost to ULM or some Alabama Junior college at home, he hasn't lost to a 40+ point underdog at home, he doesn't lose in state recruits to his biggest rival, he hasn't lost 6 or 7 games in a row to his biggest rival, he doesn't lose 4 to 6 games a year, he doesn't lose BCS bowls year after year, he doesn't get blowed out in the NCG by a lesser team, he doesn't use excuses for his loses, but these coaches that do do this are considered some of the best in the game.

All the man has done since he has been at LSU is win football games! :milesmic:

There's a difference tween being a homer and a flamer. This is an LSU forum so our posters are all "Homers" to a degree but we don't have any who are what I'd call "Flamers", they can be down right tough on visitors sometimes but even though their loyalty may make it hard for them to be objective, they aren't flamers, it's our forum and it's no different than any other teams' forum. Get over it or get lost.

Iststl is a highly respected poster here and though crist11 is very new, he's already earned a lot of respect, imo, anyway.

No you probably don't cause they put teeth in their posts. As far as John is concerned, I believe he is an LSU fan and is capable of being objective- not always correct, imo, but, nontheless, tries to be impartial and fair.

This article is really sad and it is pathetic that a network would allow it to be published. Name Calling and using someone's looks to decide if they are a good coach is really asinine. You can't argue with his coaching ability, there have been maybe 2 or 3 calls that were questionable but I would hope he would make the same decision again.

UF game: all those 4th down conversions were crazy calls. You had the momentum and it was late in the 4th qtr and Hester is guaranteed 3 yds up the middle every time. Not crazy. It was bold and he let the players win it on the field. Crazy would be punting it to UF late in the game where they could potentially run the clock out or get another score. They did move the ball pretty well.

UK game: the running it up the gut 4 times in OT was a bad decision.

Auburn game: Yes it was a bold move with some risk but Crowton and Les believed in Flynn and Byrd when Byrd signaled to the OC that he is open in man to man. The call was a great call especially when a FG is at a distance that is a little risky and questionable for our kicker. There was risk in either decision of going for the TD or FG, so why not try both? Good decision, the only bad part about it was that the team took entirely too long to break huddle and set up. That is why it was so close time wise not too mention the ref and the time keeper let 4 seconds run off the clock before signalling.
