Well, at least he didn't commit to A&M. Sounds like that LSU backed off him a bit for some reason (fact is that he didn't work out for LSU at the camp and the rumor is that LSU thought the guy was playing the recruiting game a tad too much) before he gave his verbal to USC. Either they didn't think they really had a chance or there was a warning flag they saw such as mentioned above. One thing is for sure...the defensive line assuming he could grow into a DE is too much of a priority this season to be strung along for very long. My guess is LSU still feels very good about Gilmore (DT) and either Williams or Beckwith. Get those 2 and Prevot doesn't matter as much with 6 DL committed at that point.

Isn't DT R. Crayton still in play as well?

Sorry, forgot about him...I just responded to your Robinson commit post and didn't forget Crayton over there but did in this thread's post.

Crayton is definitely a beast. I'd love to see him in this class, but I'm just not sure the numbers will work out. Assuming we get Gilmore & Willis, that's 24. Then either T. Williams or Beckwith makes 25. I honestly don't think we'll get both of them but LSU will probably hold spots open for them as long as possible. If we can take 26 in the class I'd definitely want Crayton in it. And from what I've read here & there, Tahaan Goodman may still be in play. Good greif!

I just never had a very good feeling about Goodman's interest in LSU. My GUESS is Willis ends up at LSU and Goodman at UCLA. When Willis was talking up LSU a few months ago, Goodman didn't say anything. And when Willis first said that he and Goodman wanted to go to the same school, he quickly retracted and said that was not a requirement. I say the odds of getting Goodman even if a spot was open at no better than 5%. Plus, LSU now has about 5 secondary guys already committed. Add in Willis and that is 6 if he commits. Even with the secondary attrition, LSU doesn't need 7 IMO. The best news with Robinson's commit is I see no way LSU could possibly take a new TE (Skinner) unless Stokes decommits. I have nothing against Skinner but with dire needs in the secondary and the DL and moderate needs at WR and OL, taking 3 TEs makes no sense at all. What LSU needs to start doing instead of a lot of TEs on the roster is to do a better job of projecting TEs from HS to LSU. I have to say by far the worst recruiting (yes, much worse than at QB since once again, LSU got screwed on Zach Lee) is at the TE position. How on the planet earth can LSU have had so many guys tried out at TE ON SCHOLARSHIP since Richard Dickson left and none of them has really worked out. D Peterson wasn't horrible, but still...and they even had to move him from WR. C'mon Les and the boys....find a GOOD TE! Hopefully Smith will be the guy soon.
