Yep, I don't think anybody would doubt Steinbrenner's love of the team and the fans. Combining that with his competitive drive and apparent lack of baseball knowledge was a dangerous recipe. Now his son as the above qualities (less maybe the love of the team), combined with the youthful exuberance to execute horrible plans.
On TV they said Grady was fired because of a divide in the clubhouse amongst the veteran and younger guys. I assume based on the way he handled things in the past that Torre does a pretty good job in the locker room. Personally, I believe in baseball that is what you need...a babysitter first and a manager second. Talent will take care of the rest.
