I think this game officially marks the time in which we now need to consider Alabama our biggest threat in the West. Alabama's 2 recruiting classes since Nick has been there are laying waste to Auburn's. Auburn will experience a steady decline over the next 3-4 years.
I think this a bit premature but I do like the sound of it. Alabama showed A LOT of youth against a VERY VERY BAD Arkansas team. We were out of position on defense a lot (though we did capitalize on their mistakes) and the younger fellers got a bit confused with all the thing Petrino was doing. Offensively our passing game is once again going to be where other SEC teams lick their chops and blitz us crazy until we show we can stop it. Where we've improved- 1. OL is catching onto the zone blocking scheme that makes those beautiful cut back lanes. We took advantage of them all day against a bad and youthful arky defense. 2. JPW is not making the big mistake. He's learning that throwing it away can be a good thing. :thumb: 3. The TE has FINALLY become a focal point of our offense. But again, we're the third best team in the SEC right now. I watched the LSU/AU game last night and our pass protection would have melted like butter against either one of those pass rushes. Defensively we're still seeing a lot of youthful mistakes to seriously compete. I think how this team matures and grows over the season (before November) will tell everybody a lot. But I do see improvement and that's a good thing. Great win last night.
I think the only knock against AL is the depth of the team. I believe as the season goes on this will be a problem for them. We all know the beating these players take on a weekly basis and this could have a hugh impact by the end of the year.
I've been making the call on the national board on rivals... Auburns recruiting classes will start to catch up with them, while Alabama will improve...
Bama is not as good as they have played so far. Auburn is not as bad, either. The Barn is not dead and they are still better than Bama . . . for now. Bama is getting better and I don't think Auburn is.
Still a bit early for that I think, Bamas impressed me this year, but from what I've seen so far they seem to be,at, or close to a balance. Iron bowl should be a hell of a game this year, looking forward to it. Should be "historic".
They'll switch positions, but you can't base it on this season so far. Bama is not the #9 team in the country.
Maybe not overrated...at least no more than we were before we found an offensive identity last night :thumb:. I think they are largely more untested than people are giving them credit for. Arky is not Arky anymore and Clemson is an ACC team.... That whole conference is only one step above the MAC. Bama might be good, but I don't think we've really seen enough to make that determination yet. Don't they have Georgia next week?
That is a bit extreme, we got two more today: http://www.oanow.com/oan/sports/college/article/au_nabs_o_line_commitment/37480/ Steven Jacques, a 6-foot-4, 280-pound offensive lineman from Hollywood, Fla. (South Broward), and Montez Robinson, a 6-5, 235-pound defensive end from Avon, Ind., told Auburnsports.com Sunday that they both plan on signing with AU in February on National Signing Day. Jacques and Robinson are Auburn’s 24th and 25th commitments of for the Class of 2009. “I just like Auburn,” Jacques told Auburnsports.com on Sunday. “There’s something about Auburn that’s got me.” Jacques is ranked as the No. 53 offensive guard in the country by Rivals.com, while the Web site also has Robinson as a four-star defensive end.
