false. you have a 90% chance of making it with a qb sneak against the saints. you have 10% of stopping brees needing to get in fg range even if you punt. good call, bad play, bad outcome.
My thoughts also. They were gaining yards after contact on every play. But several Saints said they recognized the formation, and the line got an incredible push. It was one of the few battles they won all day.
Should have put Turner under center and let him sneak it. Well I guess sneak would not be the right word, pretty sure that screams what is coming.
Look, you can't have a "hate on" for the Saints from 67 through 70 or 71. They were a new expansion team. The players on those teams played hard. They lost because they didn't have enough good players. The Saints also won a bunch of games under Jim Mora, so, those were very good years. NOW, while it does not look like the Saints are going to be a dynasty, they ARE universally recognized as one of the very best teams in the NFL. So, you've got to let the hard feelings go. Al Hirt, Billy Kilmer, Archie Manning and Dan Abramowicz implore you. Saintslogo
I want to but I cannot watch an entire game anymore. I end up picking pecans or going grocery shopping to get away from it. The defense is just bad and I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop. After the NFC Championship game against the Bears they lose 4 straight to start the next season. Crap like that. Losing to the fking Seahawks in the 1st round. SEAHAWKS for crying out loud. Getting punked by a rookie DL in the St. Louis game, and on and on. Letting a horrible Tampa Bay team kick our ass all over the field... I can't stand it, I tell you.
You've got a point. Up until the '09 season, that team broke my heart soo many times it almost became expected. All those times leading deep into the 4th Q, only to find a way to lose; especially against the 49ers. Then we FINALLY lose the moniker of 'only team to never make it to the playoffs' and promptly lose in the first round each time we did until 2000. If we had just a mediocre offense (and an offensive coordinator not named Carl Smith) to go with the Dome Patrol defense of Steve Sidwell, we could have done some damage. But each time, it was the same story - snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. I could definitely relate to pre-World Series winning Red Sox fans. But winning the Super Bowl healed all those wounds for me and exorcised all of those demons, so while I still get pissed and frustrated by the games you mention above, its nowhere near the level it used to be before we won the Super Bowl; which is something I just never thought this franchise could do. Ever.
Jesus all we have done was go to the playoffs since Shawn Payton became our coach. The team has brought in some of the best talent in the league. The Saints haven’t been a joke for almost 10 years. They are drafting very well. You need to let that looser mentality go. The Saints are the 3rd best teams in the NFL this year, what more can you ask for? We play a lot of games at home coming down the stretch. Last years lose to the Seahawks was a fluke. I think we have addressed our tackling issues on this team. Stopping Turner who pretty much NEVER gets dropped for a loss is pretty impressive!
