I don't follow recruiting as close as you guys do, and no disrespect to any of the QB's on our depth chart, but how in the world can the best HS QB in the universe, not come crawling to LSU? Begging to play for the national championship. Why don't we get the top 1 - 3?

Look at what we got. Look at how we do it, Look at everything or anything. We are a top of the line QB away from winning it all. It would appear, rather consistently.

Seems like we would be a shoo in for the best, to come begging to hop on the TIGER gravy train.

Is this the case? Or are there subtle obstacles out there? I know number 1 coming out is not necessarily number 1 by the end of Freshman year, but it would be a nice start.

Hell, I don't know, maybe we are already there, are we?

I think LSU has proven twice that a top of the line QB is not required...

I think a lot of people (even LSU fans) often ask the same question. If you look at the last three years LSU appeared to only be a QB away from contending for additional BCS titles. LSU was better than Auburn at most positions last season and only lost by seven after a 70-yard run.

You would think a top QB would look at the skill, speed, coaching, tradition, wins, etc. and believe he is the missing piece to a championship. I don't know if this coaching staff wants a focal leader at QB. They know they can win with a serviceable QB but unfortunately Lee & Jefferson haven't quite reached that level. After 26-27 starts JJ should've reached that level. Unfortunately he just never got it.

Looking at the size of the OL...the height & speed of the WRs...the talent at RB...and the athletes we consistently sign...I would definitely consider LSU if I was a top QB.

If we were to go on to win the BCS this year, #3 since 2003, I feel certain the top QBs would be looking at us much harder. I think after 2007s NC, many outsiders (and insiders for that matter), felt that CLM won with CNSs players. Finally, CLM is separating himself from CNS and this is evident in some of the national articles being written the last year or so. Additionally, OSU, UF, USC, and some others are rebounding and are still in a bit unknown phase, and Miami has had negative publicity w/allegations and sanctions. All of that should conspire to help as well.

I believe I can explain the QB recruiting problem in 2 words.....Gary Crowton. He did not have a good reputation for developing QBs, from what I understand. Look, we're not that far removed from getting Ryan Perrilloux, who was #1 QB in his class, and before him Jamarcus Russell, who was a top 5. And wasn't Flynn top 15? All were recruited when Jimbo Fisher was our OC. We can get top QBs, but the OC and QB coach are part of the package they look for. I think we'll recruit QBs better with Kragthorpe on the staff.

Neither is top of the line OL,DL,RB,DB.....but it sure would be nice. I'd be happy with an average SEC caliber QB. That's something we haven't had in four years.

LSU also doesn't really showcase a QB's talents. The best QB in the nation would be lucky to throw for 3,000 yards with Les as HC. That's why you see LSU land really good RBs every year and stay deep at the position. I can't understand how LSU is able to get so many talented receivers to commit.
