Just a quick look at how they fared against against USC historically.

1915-1950- 17 games, Oregon had 3 Wins and 1 Tie. They went to 3 bowl games in that period.
1950-1980- 18 games, Oregon had 6 Wins and 1 ties. They went to 3 bowl games.
1980-2000- 14 games, Oregon had 5 wins and went to 9 bowl games. (the beginning of the Knight $$ era)
2000-2015- 11 games, Oregon had 6 wins and went to 15 bowl games. (3 wins with USC under sanctions)

You tell me.....it's either all Phil or the continued reduction in the number of times you played USC.

Yes he did,.. after he retired, Brooks came back home, and now lives in Eugene.

Phil Knight didn't become financially involved until 1996,..

The Ducks have beaten USC 10 of the last 16 :)

Oregon has definitely out performed their recruiting classes (roughly averaged about 23rd place in these past 15 recruiting seasons), yet anyone would consider them a top 10 program during this period.

You are helping to make my point broham. Since Phil stepped in in 1997 (the year before the BCS era started, lol), let's look at the series from 1972-1997. We played each other 19 times and Oregon came away with.....2 wins. From 1998 to 2001, Oregon went on a 4-game win streak but then again, 3 of those 4 games were at Autzen. Nevertheless, that was the first time in our shared history that Oregon ever won 4 in a row.

From 2002-2015, we played 10 games and are both at .500. Reminder, we were under sanctions for 3 of those years and are still not at a full roster. So here's what I think. Oregon has had a great run aided in large part by Knight's money. Still, they may appear to be getting a boost in the discussion about recruiting to win ratio when as I said, they play a very weak non-conference schedule, they have only played USC 10 times in the last 15 years, and when they have the opportunity to prove it on the national stage, they have shit the bed.

I still love ya though. :)

I've heard broham and 'oh snap' in the past couple of days in these recruiting threads. Funny.
