The helmet logo on the basketball court look really good IMO. I have been hearing this announcement was coming but noticed the phasing out when going to the LSU shops over the last year. Now speed it up.
What ticked me off back then more than the hideous look of the logo was the fact that an out of state company in New York was paid $65,000 to come up with it! Phoenix Design Works of New York, N.Y., designed the visual identity package. LSU paid approximately $65,000 for the compilation of logos. Phoenix Design Works also created a font dedicated specifically for LSU. The font, called the “Geaux” font, will appear on many LSU items, including apparel. LSU is believed to be the only university in the country with it's own font. Could they not have hired a Louisiana company, or even an LSU design student, to come up with something back then? I sure hope they didn't repeat that slap in the face with this one.
The Geaux Font was worth it. But they should have gotten some feedback from locals before adopting that logo.
