I never defended Miles QB deficiencies, and was as frustrated as everyone else by the offense. The failure point for me was that none of the 4 and 5 star QB recruits ever produced beyond 2 or 3 star. We can debate why but that's a different conversation. It's time for goodbye. But I don't have to diminish Miles accomplishments to validate the change. If Alleva gets Fisher and a top staff he well deserves credit. But that doesn't mean he did it right. If Miles won a NC in 2011 with the QB situation it still wouldn't have been done right.
If he gets a positive coaching change he gets credit for that. If he also stands up before the media and says, 'We could have done this better, these are the mistakes we made, and I appologize to the LSU community and will learn from our mistakes; that is great leadership. If he does that I will give him a standing ovation. That will make him special, that will make him a person to look up to as an example of personal greatness.
Ok, other than letting the cat out of the bag too early I don't have a problem with any of the moves. The process leaking out early complicated things and really put Miles in an unfair position intentional or not. But had it not leaked I think many would feel different about how it is being handled. In fact you could bet Alleva would be feeling extreme heat from the fans to at least say something. In the end I think it will be apparent, as it is now, that it could have been handled better. However the entirety of it and how it will be seen will be based overwhelmingly on who is hired and how that hire fares.
I don't have a problem with the way it's been handled so far. So far everything is speculation, unverified leaks, and the opinion of one board member. The university hasn't weighed in on this and still has plausible deniability.
Kluke is right he has not! If he rights the ship then great, if he takes credit for this debacle then he is a leader and we can all respect him a little more for that.
We must think differently because in my humble opinion, winning a NC is precisely the definition of doing "it" right.
If youu have to fall back on 'plausible deniability', you are a stoneless limp snaked leader. But that's me.
If you buy players, fake grades to keep eligibility, win an NC and have plausible deniability on the cheating and therefore get to keep a trophy - did you do it right?
