We are not complaining about the numerous missed holding calls, facemasks, pass interference, etc. Those were and are usually spread evenly between teams. I like the refs letting them play football and not blowing whistles every other play. But when a replay official can't see the obvious . . . then the obvious thing needs to be done.
Agree about the whining. The PP int. no-call was absurd. But so was the celebration call on UGA. Guess we could trade the Georgia win for the Bama loss, but we still end up in 2nd place in the West. So many of you homers don't get it. Miles is the current version of Charlie Mac. As long as Saban is at Alabama he will struggle to beat them. He'll continue to recruit well and trot out talented teams. But he's not the coach Meyer and Saban are and it is beginning to show.
:geaux: Agree. My biggest gripe is that they couldn't even get it right after the replay.:nope: It was clear Peterson had two feet in on the CBS replay, so how could they miss it? When the play went to review I'm thinking there's no way the play stands as called on the field 'cause it'll be obvious on the replay. Replay man doesn't see what's obvious, imagine that.:angryfire Does make you wonder doesn't it. Like most posters, I don't know if LSU would have scored if the play had stood as an interception, but they took the opportunity away from us. It's quite possible they don't get the FG to ice the game but we'll never know. I wish we would've had the opportunity to find out. But I also know that all our griping is not gonna change the outcome of the game. 'Bama won and that's the way it is. That ain't going to change. Maybe with all the uproar about this and other calls that have been made during the year, and the ones to come before the season is over, will make a difference for next season. We can only hope. But in any case I've vented enough on this topic and am moving on. :LSU231:
:geaux: The celebration penalty called on UGA didn't cost them the game. Their inability to tackle and allowing Trindon Holiday to return the kickoff 40 yds giving LSU good field position is what got them beat. After the refs called a celebration penalty on Scott following his 33 yd TD run, LSU tackled UGA's return man after an 11 yd return on the ensuing kickoff. That was the difference. UGA had the same opportunity as LSU and failed. The Peterson interception no call is in a whole different category. And yeah, I'm a homer 'cause I love LSU win or lose. Sounds like you're one of those who has a man-crush on Saban and/or in the crowd who always wants to "fire the coach" after a tough loss. As for the Miles vs Saban/Meyer thing, you seem to forget that out of Saban's five years at LSU he only had two seasons with 10 or more wins ('01 & '03). He had two 8 win seasons ('2000 and '02) and one 9 win season in his final season of '04. He was also 3 and 2 in bowl games, including losing to Iowa on THE LAST PLAY OF THE GAME. He had one NC and two SEC Titles. Compare to Miles who has so far has had THREE SEASONS with 10 or more wins, ONE 8 win season and is 4 - 0 IN BOWL GAMES with one NC and one SEC Title. CLM has also won more games (49 vs 48) at LSU in five years than Saban did. Sounds like Miles stacks up pretty well against Saban and he's beaten him once. Miles is also 2 - 3 against Meyer, which is pretty good compard to what the rest of the SEC/country has done against him. We got a great coach, we just lost a tought game. :LSU231:
Does this mean if they called it as an Interception on the field that the Replay Booth would have overturned it.......................i think not.
Sorry Red, but it's the truth. But in all likelihood we'll never know since it won't be long until Rich Rod is canned at Michigan. Guess who will be their first choice. And don't count on Miles' "love" for LSU. There are easier conferences to coach in and they will pay him just as well. BTW, interesting thread on CLM on Tigerdroppings site. Seems like he was a regular Pepsodent Paul during his younger days at UM.
Is there anything about this team that you like at all? We've lost to two top-3 teams and you're predicting that Ole Miss and Arkansas have the same stuff? :insane:
