Eugene has the ability, he was lost last year because he was...well...lost. He will learn the defense and get it together, and when he does he has enough ability to shut down all but the best WRs.
Good point on Jones and I agree about the future involving faster LBers and is why I threw that out. I think we have had problems with one-on-one coverage from our LBers and think it's something that the spread exploits against most teams.
Lemming may be ND biased but he's got limited exposure. Now Brent Musburger, doing nationally televised games has maximum exposure----and he's the worst Pete Carroll whore I've ever seen or heard of---dude is absolutely the worst announcer ever! He praises USC's 3rd stringers more than any opposing player---and gets away with it year after year! Does he broadcast USC, PAC 10 or west coast games? As long as he's doing the Rose Bowl I'll never watch it----shameless---his announcing partners are actually embarrassed on the air! Texsport
Eugene's problem (that the coaches hope they can correct this spring) is not his coverage. He keeps up with the receiver most of the time. He just doesn't always look back at the ball (a problem a lot of young corners have). So once people get that scouting report, they will intentionally under-throw to his side, causing either an easy reception or an easy pass interference.
You do realize that this year's RB is the 1st time in 2 years that Pusburger has avoided talking about the great VY and how he ran all over USC. How many times did you hear him gush over Rick Neuheisel? Last year, he called for Jarrett to be thrown out of the game for flipping the football to a DB who'd been taunting him for 3 quarters. Prior to last year's RB, during the team meet and greet (which is understood to be insider info to help the broadcast but isn't meant to BE broadcast) JDB had told them about a hand signal he uses for one particular play. And of course during the game Pusburger saw the signal and announced it before the ball was snapped. Nice going jackoff. The point is, nobody at USC likes him either and most USC fans find him to be anti-Trojan.
He does Big 10 a lot (especially Ohio State), so I am pretty sure he just did USC for the Rose Bowl. (maybe also for their game vs. Nebraska). So chill out and lay off the painkillers, bro.
He does whatever game is supposed to be the primetime game on ABC..That's a good thing cause primetime games on ESPN are ususally better (involve the SEC), but that Mike Patrick is one annoying little dude.
