They shouldn't be, he has a good chance of being better than Miles. Which fan base should be happy about O being hired? LSU may actually show up with an offense next year .

I'm not overthinking your incessant prodding. Hate to think how giddy you'll be if Eaux flops. The worm could still turn.

You're very very wrong about wanting the job meaning nothing. I do agree more should have been interviewed, but i cant think of anyone else i would have preferred after Herman played us.

well we're going to just have to disagree on this one.

Saban isn't at Bama because he loves Bama. Urban isn't at Ohio St because he loves Ohio St.

they're there because they both feel like it's the best place to build their legacy as coaching greats.

you know the exact reason Alleva said he walked away from Herman.

I have taken 24 hours to calm down after feeling disappointed. I still think we should've looked at more than two candidates, but I'm happy that Orgeron is so thrilled to have the LSU job. May it translate into a successful tenure as our head coach.

And if it doesn't, we didn't break the bank on this experiment (though that Joe Dean school of thought got us into a lot of trouble in the late 80's-mid 90's.)

This has the feel of the end of the Charlie Mac days. Yes, it was past time for Mac to go, but it was all handled awkwardly. We hire the up-and-comer, Bo Rein, then tragedy strikes, so we hire the loyal LSU man, Jerry Stovall--only to give him the shortest of leashes before ending up on a 20-year carousel of coaches before we saw success and stability again.

No but they are there evause they wanyed to be there. Neither Jimbo nor Herman wanted to be at LSU. Herman would have left for Texas if the job opened up next year. Look at what knowing he wanted to be somewhere else did to Houstons season.

Good points @StaceyO I asked tirk the same thing yesterday, how short is his leash and is this just a stop gap? I don't know how much more time they would need next time beings they had it ALL this time. Still don't understand the rush either. No reason at all to pull the trigger this soon.

Okay, just stop it with the Dan Mullen nonsense. The only reason anybody thinks he has any skill is because Dak Prescott was his QB. That has a lot more to do with who Dak is and less about the coaching he received because he is a freak of nature who may be MVP of the league as a rookie.

This reminds me of LSU hiring Curley Hallman because he also had a QB who made him look good. Why Brett Favre and USM even beat Bama the year that we hired Hallman.
