I read it as Eaux was the third candidate on their board. I believe he vetted more than three and consciously put Eaux batting third.

I don't think many are happy with anything Alleva has done in years. There are a ton of things he could have done much better, this search included. That doesn't mean he shouldn't have dropped Herman like a hot rock. Also doesn't mean O wasn't the best real candidate available. I'm not sure who i would rank over O other than Herman, but it doesn't hurt to look around especially since your big splash candidates are off the table.

A few things seem to be confusing people like finebaum. It didn't matter who you hired, Miles had to go. There is no debating that fact, don't even try. Jimbo was never coming. Herman was never going to pick LSU over Texas no matter how much money Alleva threw at him. O looks like the best available and he desperately wanted it and in fact was already here and filling in. Id like to see what was in those two binders. Until i do I'll be cautiously optimistic and eager to see what he does.

Do you believe a candidate like Dan Mullens to be a viable choice that solves the offensive approach you so desperately wanted and is committed to a sturdy defense? Doesn't he belong on a very doable plan A?

Mullen should never be on any LSU coaching search list. Let Bama hire him when satan leaves.

Now can we change title of this thread?
How about, "Coach Herman, we hardly knew you." Unpin would be nice too.

You're over thinking it. The Mullen's, Fedora's and coaches of that ilk, are making lemonade from less than top destination stops.

Do you have any idea how giddy SEC fans are over this hire stooge?

only we don't actually know if he was the best because we admittedly didn't even interview anyone else.

him desperately wanting it doesn't mean crap.
Miles desperately wanted to keep the job and was already on staff too.
