I've had a few glasses over the years. Never acquired a taste for it. Same with scotch.

Everything you just said there.... well, where it wasn't self-contradictory it was incoherent.

This was an excellent move by Alleva... his ONLY reasonable option. Orgeron is quite obviously capable of winning games... and even playing toe to toe with Alabama with lesser talent. And without all that baggage of an exorbitant salary.

So he used us to negotiate a lower price? What a piss poor negotiator.

Alleva had a verbal deal with Herman. Then he and his agent walked back on the deal and tried to squeeze LSU for more money once it became obvious Strong would indeed be fired.

Alleva pulled the offer and told Herman and Trace Armstrong to pound sand, which left them with no leverage to use against UT to get the salary in the 6-7 million range.

No but be realistic. Everyone knows Aleva is both a tool and a fool. Why did you expect anything different????
Most of all don't take it out on O. As I see it he is the most positive choice after Herman. Who cares if he isn't glamorous or the name of the moment. Look at Mark D'Antonio of Michigan State. Was he a big name hire? No he was a d line coach promoted to DC then HC. He's done pretty well at the fourth or fifth name school in the Big Ten. How about GDF's boy Chip? He was at New Hampshire or some podunk college before being brought to Oregon. O's record at Ole Piss is ancient history. The school wasn't attractive and I'll bet he didn't get much money to hire assistants or recruit. Most of all he admits to his failures and has tried to learn from it. That is the mark of a success.
I don't know how he'll do but I'm optimistic. I'd rather give him the shot than Larry Big hat Fedora or PJ Fleck who have zero experience in a big league program. No UNC of the ACC isn't big league except in BB. I really don't understand the angst and wailing & nasching of teeth today.

I'm excited about the Coach O hire! He has a lot of experience at the highest level, and is ready to deliver a team that can beat anyone. He knows from experience where to focus his energies, where to delegate, and that's gold, and will pay off huge.

I was never big on Jimbo, thought he was not worth the money. Herman was kind of intriguing at first, but i think his schemes are beginning to become known, and defended better. I think he's already crested and headed into a down cycle.

I like coach O and I wish him the best as I would wish anyone taking this job. He has his work cut out for him. We are a bunch of unrealistic ravenous assholes at times.
