I don't think there's a question. It's LSU. But then again, as you mention what LSU returning in the secondary we're talking about practically the same secondary that gave up close to 300 through the air against Bama last season. Geez, more than A&M did in all those overtimes and their 70+ points. I'm left wondering how you expect better results this season against the same group? Stingley has a lot of potential but we're still talking about a freshman taking on receivers with two years experience in conference play. The other guys leave us talking about Jr's vs Jr's and I'm right back to the first paragraph. They couldn't stop them last season. FWIW, the crazy thing about these four receivers ... Metchie, who is a true frosh, has been said to have the best hands on the team. He'll surprise people this season just like Waddle did last season. As a side note on Moses: when the team was coming out of warmups before scrimmage today Harris and Moses (inside) were working with the 1's in some of the drills: both University Lab guys.
more emphasis on getting in the backfield per an article in the advocate, more depth in the front, etc.
Regarding the secondary, I believe the DL is improved enough (especially considering we have actual NTs now and K'Lavon back) to not have to use guys like Delpit and Stevens to pressure the QB like last year. They can actually be DBs in the D backfield. Secondly, it's August. You Gumps can continue to circle this game on your schedule every year if you'd like. I'm waiting for GSU and TX at the moment. I mean, I get it...y'all don't play anyone until November, so what's to talk about? Third, regarding Moses and Harris, I hope they both catch the clap from some Tuscaloosa skank.
Bro! That's projection at its best. It's an important game during the season, no doubt. But, that circle you speak of isn't any different than the one around the A&M game, or Auburn for that matter (though that circle is in pencil.) I get what you're basing your thoughts on like I mentioned above. I think Auburn's is better this season and I've still got a few question marks on their squad. If I'm not mistaken the guys over on ATVS ranked them higher as well. There's experience and talent on LSU's side. (If we look at the DL's in conference we're looking at at least four of the top five being in the west, in my view.) If I recall correctly, the guys over at ATVS had Bama's OL ranked pretty highly as well for this season...but like all things, we'll have to let it play out. Seems a higher likelihood of that happening in Baton Rouge based on this.
I don't think you do. Tua nor your wrs would be as good if the DL was better. Its not therefore you get to "taint" up your stats and gumpspin. Take away the lines and lb for lb nothing in tuscaloser is anything special above whats in Baton Rouge.
It all starts on the lines, Shane. You know that. ' Every article, every poll ranking teams, every All-SEC or All-American pre season ranking...all of them dispute what you're asserting. The fact you're trying to equate Burrow with Tua (Maxwell and Walter Camp winner last year not to mention Heisman runner up) is baffling. Intellectually dishonest as well. Are you trying to tell me Jefferson is on the same level as Jeudy? The same Jeudy who was the best receiver in the nation last season (Biletnikoff winner) and projected to be the first WR taken in the draft? Hey, mock draft are basically guesses that are somewhat educated, right? I was looking over the Walter Camp mock the other day and as I recall they had nine Bama guys projected as first rounders (doubt it) versus two from LSU. But nothing special ... Come on man. Objectivity can be a strong suit if exercised.
