But what about being "escorted by a man" would make me any safer? Red himself has said he's been mugged at gunpoint. As far as I know, Red is a man.

I guess it's the whole, "she's a woman, so she should be protected since she's unable to protect herself" mentality that bothers me.

It makes you safer from being verbally harrassed and hit on. It makes you safer from being punched and having your purse snatched. There is simple safety in numbers, criminals don't like witnesses. But if a mugger ambushed you with a gun it doesn't help a bit. It just doubles the available wallets.

men are less likely to be attacked. less people want to rape them, and they are harder to fight. whether you want to accept the reality there is up to you.

perhaps you need to enlighten the bodyguard industry. and the secret service. they seem to think having burly male escorts is effective.

I hate the orange and green and purple day-glo crocs as much as anybody else but it isn't the fact that they are crocs. I would hate any shoes in those colors.

Last year after the hurricane I ruined a couple of pairs of good sneakers cleaning the tree limbs out of my soggy yard. A few days later I went to the Academy with a $20 off coupon I had gotten in the mail. They were out of the item I wanted to buy so I broke down and bought a pair of dark blue crocs. They are very comfortable and I still wear them almost evry day.

The only person who has made any comment has been my brother, who hates them in any color. Next week is his birthday and I think I am going to buy him a pair of crocs.

i never had any desire to own a gun until i had a child.

however, my wife will not allow me to own one (or at least keep it in the house with our daughter). ooh can i keep one in my car?? is this a loophole i wonder?

but i did have friends who were robbed at gunpoint coming back from the chimes one night on campus (back when we were in college). i doubt a gun would've helped their situation. dude made off with the money and split.

all i can think is if i'm a criminal i'm robbing you for the money, not to kill you. so all i want is your money and to get away, but if you have a gun, i better not take any chances.

i could just see some guy getting the drop on me and the wife, he finds a gun on me, shoots us both in the head and then i have to listen to my wife for eternity telling me she told me so.

comfort is a worthy reason. but we have to set limits.

yunno how you see photos from the 50's and there will be like a football game and every dude there has a nice sportcoat and kickass hat? back then fellas wouldnt wear crocs. they wore shirts/ties and looked like gentlemen.

there are only like 3 types of shoes acceptable for males. wing tips/oxfords, vintage adidas sneakers and sport-specific shoes. adult males should wear those and those only.

You and me have different ideas about adult males, Hoss. Wingtips are for nerds. Adidas are for sissies. Real men wear Black Converse All-Stars or gray New Balance 922's.

Oxfords for dress. Hiking boots, trail shoes or work boots for manly activities (remember those? No?). Athletic shoes for athletic activities. Moccasins or leather sandals for knocking around the house or campsite.
