LSU has been ranked in the top 20 for the past 4 seasons, 2 in the top 10 including #2 & #8 finishes. doesn't seem to have lost any fire imo.
Briles losses are heavy on the front end of his coaching stints and his wins are heavy on the back end and he is over 50% because he turns those programs around. Baylor has won more conference games under Briles that it has in the 12 or whatever years before him. That is his success. Turning poor programs into winners is what he does. I don't think Baylor will be his last stop. If he goes to a talent rich program there is no telling what he can do. He will be gone before Miles will so this is really just an exercise in miserable losses bye-week football talk. BTW... Arkansas pick a coach that had success at a major university. I don't fault them for that. I have no idea about Tenn.
Some people cannot find an *ounce* of merit in leading a team to a 13-1 season, killing #3 Oregon, killing #3 Arkansas, killing a conference champ on the road (WVU), beating #2 Alabama on the road and killing UGA in the SEC Championship game. All they can focus on is the one loss - and their deluded idea that some other coach is out there who can do all of the things Les Miles does well, AND be the ultimate tactical game manager. I do not understand these people.
You do have a great point. I want Miles gone. I completely understand what I said and that its gone on for a long time. I just dont feel its in the best interest of LSU to fire a coach who has won a title and like him or not is extremely successful. Other programs have had a difficult time rebounding firing a coach too soon. That said, if those same things continue into next season which I do feel will continue. Then I feel he should be gone.
does LSU need to be turned around? Imean we aren't having a great season, but being ranked the last 4 years..I'd think we need a great recruiting class rather than artie briles. a troublesome thing is that his baylor teams have been ranked 1 time in 6 seasons so far. I assume this team will be ranked, so I guess 2 times in 6 years. Lou Holtz's had a good career at Ark, before ND. just saying Briles name didn't seem to surface until this year.
seems like a lot of them have "1/9 syndrome" they just can't get past that day. Imagine if bob stoops worked here? lol. I loved the 2011 season & think it's the most dominant LSU teams I've personally ever seen. 13-0 was very special.
I think you've hit the nail on the head. The "1/9 syndrome" seems to be in play and certainly affecting LSU fans, and who knows, perhaps the players and coaching staff as well. Add the heartbreaking loss to Bama last year, and now combined with the forgettable performance this year. Losing three in a row to Bama is enough to leave a bad taste in everyone's mouth, and IMO it's worse b/c of their coach. And not to rehash what's been discussed and dissected ad nauseum, but again, looking at the "1/9 syndrome" the fact that Bama gets a mulligan, and that LSU essentially doesn't even show up for the game. I get angry every time I think about it.
Speaking of "1/9," I wish somone would write a book named "WTF" that could explain how a team that went 13-0 and was considered one of the best college teams ever, failed to show up for the most important game of any of their lives!
