I think the excuse of the tigers winning in spite of Leslie is pretty much done. The 2011 team was the last team that could have been said for. That season was also the last chance for Leslie to have a undefeated NC season as well. When you look at Miles staff, he has some good coaches (except Studrawa). But they are coaches who are known more for their ability to coach than to recruit. Early in his tenure he had alot of good recruiters. Recruiting is becoming increasing more difficult. You have to factor in the addition of A&M, the resurgence of Auburn, the improvement of Ole Miss, and the recent dominance from Alabama. Something's got to give there. To remain on top in recruiting you have to win games, contend for championships, and appear in upper tier bowl games. This isn't the 80's or 90's. Because of the success that was had, the amount the coach is paid and how competitive things are now, a 4-5 loss season is equivalent to a .500 season. Let's just hope that Leslie is enough of a stand up guy, that when things do start to slide, and he doesnt have it in him to fix it, that he will gracefully bow out instead of letting the ship completely sink. Let's hope he leaves the next guy something to work with, instead of having to completely rebuild.
I did not see the game turning out this way. A&M looked awful, more than LSU looked good (I thought). Still, good job Les. Can we continue this momentum to finish out the season on a win streak? I'd have to give Les a small pile of props if we win out.
Gee what a surprise that you find another opportunity to try to dump on LSU at all costs. Please move along to whatever fan site your real team is (seem to remember a post a few years back where that was revealed).
Go find that post that outs my true team. You can live in fantasy land and say we played flawlessly. But if Les can win out he'll have salvaged more than I expected to end the season which should go a long way in shutting down his critics (of which I am one). Les has proved me wrong before and I posted recently that the reality of the matter is losing all those players on defense may just have been a legitimate reason to struggle this year. You're much more negative than I am, you attack criticism as if LSU and Miles can't weather it. I am trying to have a conversation, you are trying to be right (in the name of civility I'll try to keep it clean)... ...and gfy.
Where did he say LSU played flawlessly? No one thinks that....I certainly don't. But I did see a team with a plan to contain the best athlete in college football, and to grind it out over an overmatched defense. It worked very, very well. To look at that game and say it was more of a case of A&M playing bad than LSU playing well is absurd.
Anyone who watched that game and doesn't think LSU played very good is just looking for something to feel bad about. The players played with purpose, the defense played with the most maturity they've displayed all season, the coaches called a great game and the entire team played for each other. I'd say the game plan was near perfect and the players bought into it. Mett was very judicious on his throws putting the ball where only his boys could catch it. The rb's ran hard, the fb's blocked well, the oline played with a mean streak on runs and like they were protecting their Momma on pass plays. The defense stayed true to their assignments all game long. Well done Tigers!
Responded to his absurd statement with an absurd statement of my own. Much credit goes to containing manziel, but this game reminded me of Florida. Grind and neutralize the offense. Granted, this offense is better than UF, so again, credit to miles and Chavis for exposing jff. Also, credit to the offense for grinding a hapless a&m defense, they performed about as well as they have all season. I guess where I'm coming from is that it don't think we've turned a corner. A&m ain't all that on D and it turns out without jff scrambling they're pretty 1-d. I'd guess this team still loses to bama and uga and maybe OM. I'm pulling for Miles to win out. I've been feeling deflated this season and the destruction of a&m gives me a little hope despite the negative statements I've made. Should we lose again might get down again.
Les always responds after a loss. If I recall correctly the stat I heard, his record is something like 22-1 after a loss. The only back-to-back losses were in '08.
