Anyone know about the parking situation and the area of the stadium I'm sitting in? and open container laws around campus.
Of the people I know, it is a pretty even split between those that like it and those that don't. I think it's terrible, personally. The one here is the last place I would ever eat BBQ, and while the one in Tuscaloosa is better, I still don't think it's any good. I agree - I wouldn't bother.
the original dreamland is very good if you go on like a tuesday, in march. on football weekenks they crank them out too fast and they are like rubber. the best bbq in the south can be found across the river at archibalds.
Yeah the one in Mobile was the first one I ate at, since I had heard so much about it. Then someone mentioned Dreamland and I said it sucked. Their instant reply was "No you need to eat at the one in Tuscaloosa it's better". I gave it a try and it sucked too. That is when i tried the original, on a weekday in the Spring.
Already fourteen comments and no one has been able to say one good thing about Tuscalooser. Fun times!
but was it on a tuesday? most tuscaloosa residents will agree with you. it has declined over the years - still a cool place to visit, though. as for the parking: bring twenty dollars and park in some students yard next to the stadium.
I went to Dreamland on a Monday in the summer. I'm not a big fan of bbq places, but I did enjoy the ribs.
every good place someone says is overrated because the expectations go out the roof. but those are some good ribs. the disgusting red tshirts and polos of all the gumps in the place almost makes you lose your appetite however.
Plus, the night I was there, the A/C was broken, so it was hotter than hades in that joint. I had been expecting to need to go buy a burger after leaving there, since I wasn't into ribs. But they were much better than I thought they'd be. I figure some people are hard to please, always saying places are overrated, though I have a few places I feel that way about, like Middendorf's in Manchac.
