My biggest complaint with the play calling is this. JJ starts to show signs of finally getting it after the bye week. He played really well against Auburn and Tulane. Against Bama we see the same old BS, conservative play calling that we seen before the bye week. JJ gets hurt, Lee comes in. All of a sudden the O is unleashed with a QB that cant come close to completing a pass? Another thing is that the play calling never sticks to anything. We never see a player get established. There is no rhythm to the O because of that. Plus the meerkat O. When Scott starts to run well, we quickly go away from it. I know you have to mix things up, but the calls we go to are ridiculous. Like the constant options. JJ is NOT an option QB, thats obvious. Yet its constantly called. If you want to call it all the time at least bring in Shepard, he needs more touches and plays as it is. There is a lot to be scratching your head about this year.
I'm not sure if you know how coaching hierarchy works or not, but it goes like this Head Coach - > Coordinator - > Position Coach Crowton is responsible for the OL and the QB and everything. Just because there's an OL coach doesn't mean he's not responsible for the OL. The OL coach reports to him. Crowton is also the QB coach, so it's his sole responsibility to have the QBs prepared to play SEC football, as well.
You would take Joe Cox and Jonathan Crompton (probably the most reviled QB in the history of Vols football) over Jordan Jefferson? Um, ok...
Thanks for the education. :nope: Let me know when you get a chance to sit in on these meetings and prepare a transcript of the coaching that goes on. Compare that to maybe what Sean Payton teaches Drew Brees, or maybe what Kevin Wilson taught Sam Bradford... or maybe what Greg Davis teaches Colt McCoy. Does Kevin Wilson suck because Landry Jones isn't ready to play QB at OU? Did Greg Davis suck when Texas was losing 5 straight games to OU? Is he suddenly awesome now that Vince Young and now Colt McCoy are playing QB for Texas?
Uhh.. living in Austin, married to a Longhorn, having watched just about every UT game in the last 3 years, I'll tell you that yes, Greg Davis does indeed suck.
He sucks so bad that Texas has been averaging 440 yards per game of total offense over the past 4 years. Horrible, I tell you. Point is, these coaches start to look great when they have great players. When the players suck, they don't look that great. I will continue to stand by my assertion that LSU's QB's dont have what it takes at this point to mentally compete in the SEC.
I'll just remind you that you asked for us to vote for Alive so that you could come back to BR without losing "thousands and thousands of dollars in salary". I'd say you're a tad overpaid.
I'm all for any Hail Mary attempt to make Baton Rouge a more viable economy, because honestly that's what it's going to take, but that's neither here nor there.
