Take a look at the video. The wind up is what I have a problem with. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Y0ybMfBx_A&feature=channel_video_title]tm7 holding - YouTube[/ame]
Watch the game again and you can see Bama running the exact same play earlier in the game buy the QB threw it poorly. On both plays, the WR pushed off of TM to get separation. With his size that can be a problem that he is going to have to come up with an answer too that. They were borderline penalties, but the ball was not in the air so it won't get called. In this game yes. In other games I don't remember a single memorable play from Claiborne when the Honey Badger was lighting up the highlight reel. I think you guys are off base and way overboard on your criticism of TM.
Well, if what you say is true, then all of his jawing, and taunting after tackles is creating a negative perception about him that then carries over to a play like this. I think what others are saying are spot on, he needs to settle down or be disciplined, and these other opinions are just excuses by people with good intentions seeing the world thru P&G glasses. If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it is probably... Certainly TM does a lot of quacking.
T. Mathieu is a good football player that's going to get even better, & he has great ball skills, maybe the best in the country! But he needs to be humbled somehow, for he & the team's sake! His constant talking trash to the other team after EVERY SINGLE play, & then his penalty that squandered a beautiful return by OBJ! I'm sure Chief & Les will be on his butt about it this wk. He needs to clean that crap up before the SECCG!
Thanks for posting this. The point of this thread was not to bash TM7, I love the kid. I just want him to mature. We have to remember he is a young player with a chip on his shoulder. I guess it was just a bad split second choice. Let's remember we might not be 9-0 if it were not for the honey badger! GEAUX!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Watching the video, Matthew spun Kirkpatrick around with the shoulder hold and it seems to me it was the unfortunate way he fell and hit the ground that resulted in the concussion.
As a tv spectator, it looked like an intentional, cheap shot, which was enhanced by how the player hit the ground, then laid there. But there was no injury and it certainly will fade quickly in most memory banks, with the possible exception of those who linger on such things.
stupid play but not a huge deal. he will get his ass chewed for it like any other stupid penalty and move on.
Not that I care for all the jawing that TM does; didn't his jawing get into one of the BAMA's player's head and cause an offside by BAMA?
