I cant believe we just beat Bama in T-town and we are talking about making an example out of TM7. For what? It looked to me that TM7 was trying to "swim" around DK but his arm caught him on the helmet. Regardless, It was ONE play in a huge game against a huge opponent, that i didnt even think was "dirty". It was a mistake. Not arguing that. 30 yards is 30 yards.
I have been saying this to my friends in the real world for a couple of weeks now. +1 from me, obviously.
It was dirty! So are you telling me if it was TM who got hit like that you would have no issue with it?
I know I wouldnt. It was called a penalty people! is everyone forgetting that? It did not look malicious to me and the speed of the game can make things seem worse than they are. What would TM7 have to gain from pulling DK down in the open field on a punt return in front of the refs. It was a play I'm sure he wishes he had back but that was it. It's over.
It was a stupid play, but I don't think he was head-hunting, either. TM7's game has been "off" since the Tennessee game, and I agree that he needs to get back to playing football better. However, I'm disappointed in how our fanbase is throwing Mathieu under the bus so readily. Dumb play, a penalty resulted, the hit is not what injured Kirkpatrick. End of story, as far as I'm concerned. After such an epic battle and victory, I have a bad taste in my mouth reading the ill feelings that many fans are harboring for a kid who plays his heart out for our team. Save the vitriol for the opposition.
On a bit of a tangent, but I also saw the reason why we don't start him at corner. He couldn't stay with his man and was getting beat. When he locked up man to man with a receiver the WR gained a lot of separation coming out of his breaks. One square out pattern is burned in my memory, but there were others as well. Because of the jawing he was motioning and complaining to the ref that his man was pushing off, but that was not the case. He is better in a zone, blitzing, and is a good tackler for his size.
Yep .. I think all this homey badger crap has changed the way he approaches the game. He used to just "play" the game, and let his instincts and performance do the talking. He can shut up from now on. If I were Miles .. I'd make that very clear. Claiborne was much more impactful, and I didn't see him jawing with anyone! IN fact, I don't recall a single memorable play from honey bee.
That's exactly what i'm telling you.....it was a decision made at a high speed portion of the game........was it a bad decision....yes no doubt.......was it a malicious decision INTENDED to hurt someone NO!! If the roles were revesed I would be upset but still no that it was not intentional.....the guy got hurt because his head hit the ground not because of an illegal hit.
I agree with vhouse and disagree with may of the other posters on here. TM was trying to slow down the guy without getting a block in the back penalty. That was his focus. He was trying to give the guy just enough push to knock him off balance (just like dbs and wrs do on EVERY play), but he tried just a little too hard (not much) and hooked him. You notice the penalty was not blocking in the back. It was holding. He was trying to stiff arm him in the front upper part of his shoulder pads (from behind) and accidentally grabbed a hold a little too much. It was a really bad decision, but that is going to happen some times and it happened because he was playing hard and trying to make a hard play. Nothing malicious. It is the first dumb penalty I remember TM getting this year. I remember a lot more on Mingo over the past couple of years and I don't remember anyone calling for his head. And I would have no issue with the play if the situation were reversed. I would have been surprised as heck that they had called it on Bama. :hihi:
