What I don't like about him, is that his picks (or rankings) seem to be written by someone other than him.
Earlier this year, during our game vs. Va Tech, he said that even though we were smoking the Hokies, that USC was still the number 1 until someone took it from them. 2-3 days later, I was listening to Cowherd, when he played a bit from his early morning west coast hour. Herbie said LSU proved that they are #1. Then, the following Saturday, USC was #1 again for him. No games were played in that time span, yet he changed his pick according to who the audience was.
When we were on TV, he picks USC, gets us in an uproar, yada, yada, yada.
When on the radio on the West coast, picking us fires up the USC base.

That leads me to believe someone was in his ear telling him who to pick to work over the audience he was speaking to at the time.

First of all...I'm not even talking about Kirk H.

Secondly, I am ELATED at the #1 ranking, and all the press that goes with THAT...even if there is somebody saying we don't deserve it.

My beef is strictly with those putting out FALSE INFORMATION about Miles presser...and only giving one side of the story to the Miles/Michigan saga.

You two quit picking on me!

Oh, brother. Almost nothing is as it seems. Look at this season! Is there a half intelligent college football fan out there who doesn't recognize this as the most topsy-turvy, upset ridden, unlikely suitors for the NC in years? Why shouldn't Herbie's picks and leanings mirror that? He's always able to provide solid reasons for his comments and has no problem admitting he's changed his mind.

If you're intent to believe that he doesn't know chit, then that's what you'll hear.

did you even watch the presser? in addition to what cadillacattack said immediately following your thread, CLM is passionate about LSU and the LSU football team. he referred to himself as "playing" football here - not coaching. how many coaches do you hear say that in a season? he also admitted the timing on the Michigan opening was bad. he loves lsu. he loves the fan support here.

sure there is still a chance he will go, but your post makes it sound imminent. the overall tone is one of looming dread. i felt that way until i saw the presser yesterday. it changed my view of him leaving. i don't believe he is a liar (read as saban). i believe the man has integrity and honor, two traits i feel he desperately tries to share with the guys on his team. most of them are right there with him and are excellent examples of collegiate athletes. those boys get out there each week and they play for LSU, they play for US FANS, and they play their hearts out and their asses off for the man with the feared hat and giant lesticles.

seeing his emotion in the presser makes me think he has some level of confidence that he will not find that just anywhere and LSU may just be the place for him to create a legacy.

those are the reasons that i feel that the pending doom tone of your post was off the mark. sure he may still go. i personally don't think that option is as real as you make it out to be. just my nickel's worth.

Well, other than the Appy State/UM game, the upsets had not yet begun at the time.

Nah, I'm not saying he doesn't know his stuff. I'm saying what you hear from him may not necessarily be his opinion.

When he breaks down games, you can tell he's definitely knowledgeable about the game. It just often appears he's working the crowd when it comes to opinions. Don't know if that's his doing, or his bosses.

I'd say that Florida, Oklahoma, aOSU, and USC can all say something quite similar.

I sorta think this way as well. I really want this to be true.

But it's equally plausible that, knowing how hard his guys play for the school/fans/lesticles, he's broken up about the impending bad news he's going to deliver them.

That presser was very cool to watch, but I don't think it reveals anything about what Michigan or Les Miles will eventually do.

Similar - but not quite. And you didn't say it. Cause, like most of us, at heart you're a homer.

And that's OK. Cause, like most of us here, you're a reasonable homer!
