Comparing where they were last year and where they are this season they aren't as good on first down--specifically against the run. I'd have to look at the number to be exact, but I'm pretty sure they're giving up around five per carry on first. It's not a hard team to get in a second and manageable situation ... which increases the odds of getting them in nickel. If you're play action is working the two teams should match up. I'm sure you're familiar with that Cover 3 look Bama's used for a long time--that's a lot of what Kirby took with him (and Mel Tucker for that matter.)
I hope you’re right @TerryP, I’ve only watched one Georgia game this year and they looked pretty good but that could have been their competition. If we can move the LOS on 1st down with the run I think we are competitive. What worries me about the upcoming games are the stalls we had against lesser teams. I’m a firm believer that if you can’t control the LOS you’re not beating the other team. It’s what Nick focuses on at Bama and his record speaks for itself. Until we are a couple deep with studs on both lines our skill players will be handicapped.
Okay. The "no lube" bit...that's a *unique* look being put out there. @lsutiga Y'all throwin' this "We comin'" phrase around like it's the motto of '18, and you're comin' with "no lube?" I mean. Really?
