O.K. I've been reading a lot of people who feel that Miles is underachieving with "all this talent" Time to address injuries and it's affect on this team. To be a championship team you need 3 things to happen. You have to be good (we are) you have to get the good bounces (we have) and you have to stay relatively injury free (we definitly have not) Alexander, Toliver, Beckwith, Dorsey, Favorite, Holliday, etc. To think our defensive production would stay the same with these key guys either out or severly limted is ludicrous. The great, best coach LSU ever had all knowing Nick Saban said today that "injuries affect how well a team plays, not an excuse, just how it is." We didn't get "outcoached" (I hate that term, unless you're intimitely involved in the gameplan and a coach, how the hell would we know anyway) Sat. in my opinion, play selection looked good, we didn't capitalize at got two FG's instead of TD's in first half was not because of playcalling. Miles has recruited well, hired good AC's and we lost 2 games this year both in triple OT. And contrary to all the talk, we don't have anymore talent than USC, Ok., Fla. or Ga. and they ain't playing for a NC either. I'm happy with Miles and hope he stays. Future's bright, and championships will come. GEAUX TIGERS
If we were to believe that's true, "To be a Championship team" a team doesn't need a coach at all. I say we need to address your spelling- you and Miles may both need a new "Address".
No, but I don't know if any coach can ovecome the injuries we had. As for spelling, I type fast and tend not to worry about it. Always have english majors like you to staighten me out.
The only thing that needs to be addressed is the SECCG. Plenty of time in the off season for looking back.
In 2002, we started the year 5-1 and beat Fla. in Gainsville. Matt Mauck got injured, and Damien James got kicked off the team. We finished 8-5. No one thought Saban was a bad coach, we recognized we lost major contributors. Should Miles get the same consideration?
I have to agree that injuries have taken a toll on us this year. Let's add another one to the stack. Early Doucet was out for half of the season, and our WR's really struggled during that stretch. This team reminds me of the one that UGA fielded in '03. They looked like world beaters in September, then had nagging injury after nagging injury catch up with them. Then, we dismantled them in the SECCG. I hope we don't lose on Saturday, but I feel like we're pretty dinged up. I was actually happy to watch that trainwreck of a 4OT game in Lexington yesterday, because the longer it went on, the more UT guys that limped off the field. I was happy that they had gone through an even longer game than we had (and a whole day later than we did.)
Great post. Also, don't forget Flynn. He has been injured most of the season... Nice to see someone who understands things a little. Good job!
I agree 100%! Injuries, distractions, rumors, off-the-field stuff and the pressure of being ranked #1 has all taken its toll. I think its a combination of them all, but these 2007 Tigers are pretty frikkin awesome! :geaux:
So lets not fix the red zone problems, correct?:thumb: You guys are happy with those? Last in NCAA? Seriously we should quit drinking the purple kool aid and quit making excuses. I like Les Miles and our coaches, want them to stay and fix problems. It just seems like some of these posts people post are ignoring the problems. Btw: Wasn't exactly directing this at you P&G, just these threads in general!
