2. Tom Hodson is correct. 5. The holder was #21, Joe Scarpatti. The deep snapper was linebacker Jackie Burkett. 7. The Saints shut out the Jets in '92 and again in '95.
Swilling is third all-time in sacks. Wayne Martin is second. The record for defensive touchdowns is 4, held by Tommy Myers and Sammy Knight.
I have been remiss in not coming up with some more Saints trivia this offseason! As the regular season approaches, I will give you a doozy, thought up by my friend William Taylor, and used by CST during the Dolphins pre-season game last week (if you were watching, you've already heard it; sorry) Garrett Hartley kicked the conference championship-winning FG that sent us to the Super Bowl. Name the other 10 members of the field goal team on that historic kick.
I consider myself a fanatical (see forum handle ) Saints and LSU fan and I'm decent with trivia on both, but there's no way I could name all 10. Anyone that does with cheating or heard it on the last game's broadcast should be considered the guru of Saints fandom. The only ones I know besides Hartley is Mark Brunnell was the holder. I don't know who the long snapper was but he stood out to me because he wore Ricky Jackson's old number that I thought was retired. Was Courtney Roby on the PK team? Maybe Dave Thomas, Chris Reis or Pierson Prioleau (sp)? Have no idea who the rest are.
Brunell was the holder. Thomas is right, and the holder was indeed #57. Simple deduction should give you quite a few others. I mean, their job is to block, right? And no, I would not have come up with all 10 either.
Nicks, Bushrod, Evans, Strief and Stinchcomb are correct. Drescher was not the long snapper. Fanatic already got Brunell and Thomas. The last 3 are Jason Kyle, Nick Lechey and the only defensive player on the unit, Jeff Charleston.
