The point is, when you lose guys that extremely important to your team success, and start playing young kids who arent used to playing full time, things are going to happen. Florida lost 4 games 07, after they won a championship, no one was calling for Meyer's head. You have a Soph. starting quaterback with only 2 full-time starters back on offensive line. On the D line, both starting ends are gone and a starting DT. Last season we lost an all world D Lineman, and Ali Highsmith who to me was the assassin of the defense, not to mention the verbal leader Steltz. Think of everything that was lost from 07 to 08, the entire heart and soul of the team, and they competed in every game except 1 which was Ole Miss. Florida has looked shaky at times this season and they lost 3 people on offense, and return everyone on defense. You guys need to step back and look at the big picture. I understand criticism, and yes we do need to make some changes on offense, and execute better in all facets of the game, but the staff knows that, and they are doing their best to fix these snafus. The in game stuff is not what worries me, what worries me about this staff was pointed out in the "and the valley shook" article with the in state recruits. But i am not about to start saying that this staff doesn't know what its doing, or they don't have a clue, or need to be fired. Look at last year, everyone knew what the major problem was, and LES FIXED IT, malveto is gone, and everyone i know that is an LSU fan wanted Chavis, and what did Miles do, he got Chavis. Everyone was bitching about throwing the ball downfield, and what did we do against UL we chunked it downfield, didn't succeed, but we did it, and we aired it out against MS ST, then what did the fickle fans say? We need to run the ball more. You guys don't think Les knows what needs to be fixed and how to fix it? Please, he wasn't a head coach at 2 different colleges and a line coach with the Cowboys because he is a retard that everyone feels sorry for.
But my point is.. people are going to be saying the same thing next year. We lost so much, give the team time to gel, let the coach get used to this team, etc. When do the excuses stop? We have 3 full-time starters back on the offensive line this year btw, Black, Hitt, Barksdale. One season to rebuild? Sure. Two seasons? That's to many. Three seasons? I can't believe you're not fired yet.. Our Tigers got destroyed 3 times last year.. UGA, UF, Ole Miss. They also went 3-5 in SEC play. The only reason we weren't a .500 team is because we had the largest comeback in LSU history against freaking Troy.
I disagree, i think that if we drop 4 or 5 this season, and do the same thing next season, Miles will definitely be on the hot seat, and may not have a job 2011. All i am saying is that we had one mediocre year last year. And everything that was wrong with that team from a year ago, Miles has taken the proper steps to improve. We have 4 ugly wins this season, but alot can be taken from those. And i think the staff is doing the right thing in getting those areas tweaked, and fixed. I could be wrong, the wheels could be falling off who knows, but i am not ready to just cut bait now when we are 4-0 going into the meat of our schedule. I think if we do drop 4 or 5, then alot of grumblings will be warranted at the end of this season, but lets wait and see.
Gotcha :geauxtige I'm grumbling because we're playing like a 4-5 loss team.. not because we are. In that respect perhaps I'm being a bit harsh.. but I prefer the word 'proactive' :hihi:
Right.. Because that's SOOO much more embarrassing than losing to them by 28. They could have just as easily said "Screw it, we're down by 4 touchdowns at home, I'm pissed off, I don't want to play anymore." in that game. They could have said, "Eh, it's cold up here in Washington, that Locker guy can play, I want to go home." They could have said "Aw screw it, Mississippi state is on the 4 inch line and about to score, it's over..." and given up last week. But they didn't. Know why? Because that would be just as absurd as a fan saying "Screw it, we're 4-0 but it's a sloppy 4-0..so let's get rid of our coach."... :dis: I think it's time for you to move on because your best posts are behind you.
The fact that they let themselves get into that situation is embarrassing enough. I'm glad they won.. but it's nothing to write home about. It's just another shining example of our team playing down to competition under Miles. So soon? I've got a good record, I'm undefeated OOC, and my posts during bowl season are on a different level than my regular season posts.. :hihi:
How do you figure? We get western Div. rivals Ole Miss and Bama at home instead of on the road. We get East Div. Tennessee at home instead of Georgia on the road. We get UNC at a neutral site instead of Washington on the road. The only tough road game is Florida sans Tebow. It's a schedule made for a championship run. Happens every year to every team, my friend. But LSU has an awful lot of young talent waiting for an opportunity to start. The quarterbacks will be seasoned, the defense will no longer be "new", and half of our starters return.
When he leaves, on his own or fired, because nothing he does satisfies the vocal fans and the media, it will be then that we realize just how good we had it. Those unsatisfied won't be happy until they run him out of town. This for a coach with his record. If ya wanna know how that story plays out, check how long it has taken Nebraska to recover from a similar mistake in judgement.
good lord! it sounds like youve given up on next year too, and we are only 4 games into THIS year! :rolleye33:
Except that TN, Auburn, and Arkansas will all be much improved it appears. UNC at a neutral site >> Washington on the road. WVU won't be terrible either I don't think. What's your prediction for 2010? I'm optimistic about that season.. but you've alluded to a championship run -- what would your reaction be to a 9-3 type season? Which is why that should not be an excuse in Miles favor.. 2 years in a row. Not at all. I'm optimistic.. I do worry that we'll see more sluggish performances though. 9-3 at the very worst in 2010.. hell, 9-3 should be considered a failure.
