The 8-4 Les was pretty good? Last year it was painfully obvious that the players had given up. That's on coaching. The rest of those seasons were excellent.. but this season thus far looks like 2008 all over again. How long should he be given to get 'used' to his team? This team has quite a few seniors.. Cutrera, Hawkins, McCray, Alexander, Riley, Alem, Chad Jones, Al Woods, Ciron Black, Hitt, Dickson, Scott, Trindon, Keiland, Lafell, Mitchell.. I don't see your point.
That's right. 8-4 in a rebuilding year is better than average. This year it's painfully obvious that you have given up . . . and you don't even have a humiliating loss to hang it on. No, quitting is on the individual. So what? We can't win them all. Everybody thinks 2010 looks very promising with an abundance of talent, experienced quarterbacks, and a easier schedule. It's not like LSU is on some kind of nosedive. Another top-ranked recruiting class comes in January. And we haven't lost four games yet, damn it, we haven't lost any. You are seeing only in small glimpses, try to look at the big picture. LSU is in fine shape for the foreseeable future. We are undefeated and ranked in the Top-10. We will finish in the top-20 and win another bowl game. We will be a highly ranked contender when the next season opens for the 8th year in a row. The friggin' world will not come to an end because our offensive line is underperforming in September.
Guys, we finished 7-5 last year, not 8-4. 5 losses is not acceptable. Rebuilding or not. Not with Troy, North Texas, Tulane, and App St on the schedule. That means we only beat 3 actual teams. Quite frankly, 8-4 isn't acceptable either. Not with LSU's talent level. Not with 3 or 4 gimme games on the schedule every year. Miles shouldn't be fired for an 8-4 this year, but do it again next year, and we might have to talk.
Technically, you're right. I don't really put a lot of stock in bowl games, however, unless it's a BCS Bowl. JMHO. Just a glorified exhibition game. Whatever. The point is, 5 losses is not acceptable. Not saying he's gonna get fired if we lose 4 or 5 this season, but do it again next year and it becomes obvious that the team is underperforming and I think Miles' seat gets a bit hot. You can't have top 5 recruiting classes year after year and lose 4 or 5 games. Just not gonna fly.
I'm not arguing that Miles couldn't let the wheels come off, just that it hasn't happened except in people fears, so far. And all teams will have off years, even the top recruiters. If it was just about recruits, USC would win it all every year.
The schedule is actually much tougher next year. We're going to be 'young' again.. we lose like half of our starters? UNC (ATL) WVU Tennesse (continuing to improve) @Florida @Auburn Alabama Ole Miss @Arkansas
Agreed, next years schedule will be even tougher. Add that to a less experienced team than we have now. Which is why the kids not at all being coached up is scary.
