So if we simply defeat Georgia, you still want to fire Les?

I'm concerned now, amigo. I just think that firing Les Miles is FRIGGIN' CRAZY. :insane:

    I've already explained why.

Dude . . . if Les' record so far ain't good enough for you, what exactly will it take for you to recognize a turnaround. A actual turnaround would be to start losing, is that what you are advocating?

Did you really think LSU would win 11 or 12 every year? Did Nick? Did Mac? Who does? The schedule is tough, we have a young quarterback and a new defense that we ain't comfortable with yet. It's probably going to be a 9-3 or 8-4 year. Most folks were not expecting this to be a championship year for LSU. We have won the games that we are supposed to win. We will probably lose the games that we are supposed to lose. But the world is not coming to an end.

Actually Coach Bryant was a pretty mean SOB if you read up on him. The Junction Boys movie pointed it out to an extreme but no one worked his team harder than Coach Bryant and that was a big reason for his success. I am a retired military officer and one of the readings I had to do in my career was Coach Bryant's bio. He was driven to the point where he outworked everyone else and he detested failure. Later on in his career he mellowed out but for the most part he was a pretty salty character.

I support Coach Miles and our team 100%, but that is not to say we are an SEC championship team the way we are playing right now. Our offensive line has to start knocking people off the ball and the defense needs to play with more passion at times.

    Again, just my opinion.

No way do we want him gone. He isn't "expected" to be perfect. Bad game. We will do better. Snead had four int's against Vandy last year but got better. We'll see.

Just beating UGA will be great for this season and the teams confidence. It's a quality win.. but UGA is just not good this year. If we just get by UGA as we have the first few weeks.. I'll need to see how we play against Auburn, La Tech, Tulane*, Ole Miss, etc. I'm curious to see how we play against teams that are better than us too.

I'm glad you're concerned.. but if we lose 3-4 of the upcoming games.. the blame has to fall somewhere -- and it's not on the lack of talent.

I think LSU should win between 9-11 games every year. Right around 85% of our games would be ideal (Average of 10 wins/season). There should be no games that we are supposed to lose.. and I think that's the difference between our attitudes on the subject. We have the talent and resources to beat every team in the nation -- so we should play like it.

because there is about a 1,000,000% chance that no decent coach will be interested in a job where winning 80% of your games, a Conf. title, a National title, and 4 blow out bowl wins in 4 seasons is not good enough.

we all talk about how tough the SEC is. "toughest conference in the country."

so if it really that tough, you have to be prepared for a bottom feeder "Mississippi St." to step up and give you a scare.

you also have to expect a middle of the road team "Vandy" to roll over and play dead when they come to your stadium.

you also have to have to be ready for a non-conf team (Washington) to come at you like its their Super Bowl

Like it or not, we still have a huge target on our backs. no matter who we play, or where we play them, we're getting their absolute best game they can muster.
They're gonna grow up and tell their grand kids about the day they "almost" beat the Tigers. We're probably gonna forget about this game before the end of the season.

are we ready to make a run at a conf or nat title this year?
no, i don't think we are.

does that mean we need to start firing people?
    no, not even close.

we are in our 2nd straight year with a relatively in-experienced QB.
couple that with less than stellar o-line play, and things aren't gonna be pretty. Even if Vince Lombardi rose from the dead to coach us.

we are in our 2nd straight year with our defense having a new coach.
these things take time to develop.

It's more accurate to say he inherited a program. CLM's first three years were more like maintenance than building. There's always room for improvement and striving for excellence should always be the goal. This thread seems to mostly contain the posts of those from two extreme camps - the ledge jumpers and those who refuse to take off their purple-colored glasses.

It is ridiculous to be calling for CLM's head but it's equally ridiculous to pretend that all is well. This is a very good football team that has underachieved in all four of its games, all played against inferior talent. In some respects, scarily underachieved. I don't know where the problem lies but it is CLM's job to figure it out and get it corrected. He is running out of time quickly as we enter the heart of the SEC schedule.

I for one have been overdosing on Nexium. I am thrilled that LSU is undefeated and it has been a pleasure watching Chad Jones, Patrick Peterson, Brandon LaFell and many other players. JJ is improving every week and he will be a solid QB before he is done. But it would be nice to see this team play up to its potential and dominate a team it should dominate. Thirty yards rushing, even though that number is skewed by the botched snap and a huge sack, doesn't cut it. Had this just been one game it could be dismissed but the running game has been abysmal all year.

Fire Les Miles at the end of the season? Absolutely not, even if we lose every remaining game. But I just don't see the evidence that this team will be dominating and destroying teams by the end of the year. I don't see LSU winning the majority of its remaining games; that's not to say it can't be done, I'm just going by the first four games. This team has the potential and the heart to beat Georgia this weekend. That's the only game I am worrying about at this point. So coaches, do what you know how to do and get this team ready. GEAUX TIGERS!!!!!!
