Alleva sucks, but Miles hired Steele. Alleva didn't make Miles go cheap for a DC, Steele was an extremely well paid assistant coach. I think no one wanted to be matched with his offense and saw that there might not be much job security. I don't see many quality DC candidates knocking down Miles door for this one eiher. Aranda is probably the only quality guy out there that would jump at the chance to come to LSU right now. Miles better rush out and get him and not make another Steele type hire.
But Alleva couldn't get the job done. That's the bottom line with him in my eyes. Yes, our offense must progress, and even I was ready to can Miles because I said at this time last year that if we didn't win the West, I was no longer confident in Miles. So...I was okay with Miles going because of that. Alleva couldn't close the deal, so get rid of the SOB already. Besides, do you really want Alleva to hire our next football coach? And make no mistake, if Miles doesn't win the West next year, he really, really needs to go. All of that being said, I'm an LSU fan for life, and I will not pull against LSU in hopes that Miles is fired. I will pull for LSU because I'd rather see them be successful.
it wasnt allevas fault per se. his hands were tied. media outcry and political bullshit forced the caving. hes the only one who wanted to do what was best for the program. everyone else folded. including the fans. i agree the timing was off but firings are always messy. best to rip the bandaid off now. is this deflection because you wanted miles out and feel guilty. who said that.
So, get rid of him and get someone who will do a better job of hiring the next coach. Jimbo Fisher was really all he was looking at as a replacement? We're going to need someone with more imagination than that.
im down. but we wont get another emmert teamed with a program building coach here. its like replacing qbs at this point. the names will change but the bureaucracy wont. 10 wins is our goal. anything else is lagniappe.
I'll take the job. My first action will be to meet with Miles and tell him win the West (and therefore, the SEC) and get to the playoffs or retire.
